Sweet Retreat - Derby Street — Restaurant in East Staffordshire

Severely annoyed. I have ordered from here A LOT of times before and rarely been disappointed but tonight was a whole other story. Ordered at 9:08pm. Gave an hour count down. It hit 0 and nothing. We waited till 10:20pm to ring them. The girl said they were very busy tonight (which I completely understand) and that it would be 20/30 minutes at the MOST and they were adding in a free cake. It gets to 11:15pm. Still nothing. By now we had been waiting 2 hours and 10 minutes. I rang again. She said it left 5minutes ago and should be there soon. It finally got here after 2hours 30mins. No apology from the driver. No free cake like promised. The food was cold, the kinder bueno tasted really stale, my partners lemon cake which he’s had from there before, tasted disgusting and not really sure why. Complete and utter waste of time and money. Spent nearly £20 on a piece of lemon cake and a waffle because the delivery charge was £5, and regret ordering anything in the first place. My partner has type 1 diabetes and injected insulin for his cake, for it then to taste horrible. He could have ate the free cake to make up for the carbs he injected for, but there wasn’t one, so he’s now running round the house like a blue arsed fly trying to find some biscuits or something to make sure he doesn’t have an episode of hypoglycaemia. WOW! SIMPLY AMAZING. I honestly don’t know where to start. We’ve been ordering Sweet Retreat for a longggg while now, and fall in love with their menu more and more each time. We ALWAYS purchase Tango Ice Blasts, because who wouldn’t? They’re the best! And SR have blessed us by being the ONLY place in Burton with them available!

Recently, I have tried the Kinder Waffle and it is honestly the most amazing thing I have ever tried! My mouth just absolutely waters every time I think about it... Even now! The best part is the sauce they put on top!

Sweet Retreat often update their Facebook and Snapchat accounts and like to interact with their customers, and get to know them on a more “personal” level too - which really impresses me in a company!

As a long-term and regular customer, I would recommend Sweet Retreat...

I was sceptical to order at first, due to a few negative reviews, however SR ended up being brill. The order tracker is poor, and the order took longer than expected, but again, from reviews I somewhat expected this, also it was taken into account, it's Saturday night. We did end up ringing and the staff ensured us it was just leaving the shop, and was with us within around 10 minutes. SR deserve a little more credit, as the treats were displayed wonderfully, tasted gorgeous and are very filling (We're saving the rest for breakfast) and the staff threw in a free treat (Assuming) due to the wait. Some have said prices are high, although you get what you pay for and this "hangry" girl wasn't disappointed. Bravo, will order again. From, someone who thinks she is a food critic, but actually...
