I'd like to give 2.5 stars here, but that's not possible. Three stars feels too high.

The food is nice, and the staff are generally nice and helpful too, but I'm really disappointed with value for money.

Yes, it was 2 for 1, so we ordered two pizzas. So at around £16 per single pizza, I was expecting they would be fairly large. When they arrived and were roughly 10", possibly less, I felt really let down.

The small print is a little alarming too. "The single diner offer allows you to choose a pudding instead of another main meal if you are dining in a party of an uneven number." Puddings alone are between £3.65 and £4.95 (for a single portion).

For an example, taking one of the most expensive options, a Sunday Lunch, where you could spend £19.55 and get two roast chicken dinners, if dining in even numbers, we can already see an issue with price.

Dining alone or in uneven numbers still means you're paying £19.55, you get one meal and possibly one pudding. Hardly a decent swap for a main meal. If two meals are worth £19.55, then dining alone or in uneven numbers should mean that one meal should be around £9.75 ... but instead you get a pudding worth roughly £5. A main meal, and a pudding, possibly costing less than a quarter the price of the meal, is now costing the same as two main meals.

Even if this were not a 2 for 1, at a price of £9 for a Sunday lunch, this is already at the very high upper limit of what many customers would expect.

I appreciate that the last few months has hit business incomes hard, but this pricing policy will only force potential customers to...

We frequent this pub several times a year especially for new year and birthdays where around 30 of us attend. This was my first trip to eating out during the covoid crisis but it was recommended that that good safety measures were in place here so we pre booked. On entry it was great, track and trace was in place, social distancing signage, hand sanitisation etc. We were shown to our table which I had requested in a corner. The meal was lovely and quite quick. Then the waitress never came back to check on us even though we had already ordered desserts. My partner went and told them that we were ready and they said they would they let the kitchen know. I understand they are running on minimum staff so wasn't too put out until a party of 4 were put on a table literally right next to us. There was another table to the other side which we thought was pushing it to 1 metre which isn't recommended without face masks but this table was just ridiculous. My chair was virtually next to their chair. I felt very uncomfortable and since we had more been waiting another 15 minutes (45 in total) we changed our dessert order and got them to take out. It's really good all these things are in place but not when you put people that close to each other. Even the people on that table swapped chairs as you could see the more elderly couple sat further away. We will not be going back until it is safe to do so...

Its the first time i have eaten here. We did not book but there was a table for 4 available. We received a nice welcome by, who i presume was the manager. He told us to use the website for some offers on food. Once sat down drinks orders were taken quickly as were the food orders. Drinks came very quickly and food as i would expect. The waiter was very polite and attentive throughout. Kids had a pizza each which looked very nice. It went very quickly so it must have been tasty. My wife had a pizza also which she says was also nice. I had sirloin steak, which was well cooked to my medium rare request. This tends to be my go to meal when we go out. We tend to use the Beefeater quite often. In comparison the steak was slightly tougher, with a little more fat, nonetheless still very nice. The chunky chips were nice, but personally i would have preferred them a little more crispy / chunkier. Service from start to finish was excellent. With the discount option i downloaded from the website we paid £40 for 4 drinks and 4 main courses which is reasonable. Overall a decent meal at a decent price. Only reason i did not give 5 stars was the steak and chips was not as good as Beefeater but you must expect to pay at least half again for the steak there. 4.5 would have been the correct score if comparing the meal received, the price paid and...

Pre-booked table as race day at Uttoxeter, although it wasn't too busy! However, there was a 40 min wait for food. We had a sharer starter of nachos which came out very quickly, but it wasn't very warm and lacking guacamole (there was some but not a lot). I ordered the surf and turf, I ordered my steak as medium, it was slightly under but I don't mind that's how I like it. I never order as medium to rare otherwise it comes out too rare! Food was lovely and plenty of it. My friend also ordered the mixed grill which was very nice. I would recommend either. Will definitely go again when I go to the races. Only comment I would make is that only one entrance from the car park. We had walked from the station and ended up walking all the way round the building to find an entrance. It needs a gate entrance from the footpath.

We stayed locally in Uttoxeter and the hotel had no restaurant. So we tried the local Dapple Grey pub. We loved it so much we came back the following night. Yes the food is good quality standard pub fare, yes the beer is stored well, the Pedigree was lush. But what really made it 5 stars was the staff, especially Ant. They are sooo friendly and despite being a Marston chain pub it had the feel and vibe of really friendly local independent pub. You can tell who the regulars are as they are greeted so nicely. Great atmosphere and the kids loved it!

Had a nice lunch here with my friends on route to Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel great value meals 2 for 1..we were very efficiently served & seen to ..we were given a menu quite quickly.. a shame one of the vegi options ie pasta was all sold out for one of my friends ..but chose something else.. After we'd finished on route to the ladies we saw a specials board we weren't told of ..so will ask next time or we should have been told.. the mgr on duty that day was very attentive.. So for a nice pub lunch come here..!! 😋
