The Old Swan - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in East Staffordshire

Today was just out of this world in terms of bizarre, Sunday 15th October. Ordered food at 12pm. Waited over an hour and still nothing. So goes to bar to ask when food will arrive, wasn't sure. So back to the table, to have a server bring receipts to us, eventually found our order, with an order missing, so when we e eventually got served 2 of my guests were served, whilst I waited as the initial order had missed out a person, that being me, so was now a separate order. But still an hour on, food had arrived for my friends, so when mine arrived I ate alone, ruined the day. 1st time this has happened and seemed like there was only 1 server in the whole restaurant today, and not sure what was going on with the chef. Dirty cultelry, asked for it to be changed to get the same. Red hot chips, but with freezing cold bacon sausages and beans, oh and the egg. My friends food was below par as well. Was the manager cooking today, as never saw her once. Service today was terrible as was the food. No offer of any kind for the wait.. other people were getting ready to walk out as well. 2 hours to receive food, is just a joke. Probably won't be returning after this visit, and wasn't even that busy either.. tables were cleaned by moving empty plates, glasses from one table to another table. To walk past you'd think to yourself, I'm not eating in there. Used to be great not sure if this is a one off, but not willing to give it another go, as the wait was crazy and to receive sub standard food, was just a joke. Shame used to love it here, food done usually 15 20 mins from 1st ordering it. But to be called out on the order, and to see a missing item, when you watched the bar lady take the order. We were completely forgotten about.. Its up to you, beer is okay here. I didn't drink, had tea as had a brunch, and 2 cups of tea went stone cold and had to have a 3rd with my meal, so you're not making money, if anything your losing it. Again such a shame, as always used to be a good experience here.. But after today, I don't think we will be returning.

Leaving drinks.

We were quite happy until we got our second round of pints. When all of sudden after not being IDed at the bar. The server coming over and asking is for our iDs. I had mine but the other two didnt as they only had there phones on them. But did have pic of there passports. Which the server did accept. Then the manger came over. And said no. Took there pints anyway. We asked for a refund as they had two sips. He said no if you've paid on the app. We were like we've paid at the bar where we didn't get IDed with Apple pay. Which then he said we can't refund on Apple pay. So we paid for two sips of a pint when we already been served the first round question. Manager needs to train his staff to check out the bar instead of gaining profit from us and embrassing us at table infront of everyone. We were all over age unlike some of the people I know are under age in spoons and get away it....

My husband and I went for lunch last Sunday. I can honestly say it was the worst meal out I’ve ever had. We ordered the lemon and herb chicken with mash, peas and gravy. I usually have lemon chicken and enjoy it thoroughly, this one had too much marinade, was over cooked and served upside down, so it looked very dark brown and a weird texture. It took me a while to work out it looked fractionally better turned over. The mash was dried up and only slightly warm, the peas were wrinkly(as though they had been under the pass too long and the gravy was cold and congealed. No one came to ask if our meal was ok, which usually happens in all other Wetherspoons. We were tight for time, so we ate what we could and left.
