The restaurant is in a beautiful setting: overlooking the water at Barton Marina. Not only is the setting beautiful, but the inside of the building is too, with ornaments and pictures galore.
The food is top-notch, although having been to Thailand several times, the restaurant didn't feel authentically Thai. Partly this is down to the way that seemingly all Thai food in the UK is anglicised to suit the Brits, but also partly it's because at least half of the waiting staff working that evening weren't actually Thai, unlike other local Thai restaurants at which I've eaten. This isn't a complaint, however. The portion sizes were extremely generous, and so I was unfortunately unable to finish my starter or my main. It was of very good quality, hence I say "unfortunately".
My partner and I were there to celebrate my 40th, and basically half of her budget for my birthday gifts went on the meal. That gives you a fair idea of the price. It isn't cheap, but you pay for what you get, which is a perfectly cooked meal.
A minor downside was that the staff didn't seem particularly friendly and we felt a bit rushed to order, but the restaurant was busy so I'm going to cut them some slack.
Overall, a pleasant experience and I'd like to return when I can...
Read moreWe used to go here when it was part of Siam Corner. We have been three times since we discovered it had been taken over, all within the last two months. It is OK. But today it was dreadful. They are catering for people who don't like Thai! The Thai spicy salad was a salad of carrots, cucumber and peanuts, not a dressing in sight. When I asked for the usual bowl of vinegar, onions etc to spice it up I was told it was not served with the food on today! Eventually they brought me a minute portion, but the salad was boring and tasteless. Likewise all the dishes today were tasteless, no spice at all. The Panang curry was so mild it was hardly a curry. Yet they manage to do an English salad and Marie rose sauce and salad cream every time? Is this a Thai, or an English with a bit of Thai style food? Very disappointed, complained and go tthe distinct impression as long as we paid they didn't particularly care. The Thai lady said she was Thai and didnt like spicy food ! What chance. Not sure we will go again now, spent £30 and felt...
Read moreQuite possibly the worst restaurant of the year AND BUGS IN THE FOOD? CLEARLY DON'T WASH THE FOOD. The slowest service I've received at a restaurant this year. Took 15 minutes to seat us at a reserved seat. Once we sat they was quick to take and provide our drinks. After we ordered, took 30 minutes to serve the starters in which we ate in approx 10 minutes. After that took 70 minutes to serve the mains, in which one of the meals had a live catapiler crawling in the salad. Really poor service when we informed the staff, they didn't offer an apology or even say anything, just took our plate and came back with another one. After that we asked for the bill, took 30 minutes to give the bill and us to ask 3 times. Absolute joke at this point to which they attempted to charge us full price for the food as well as service charge. In total we was at the restaurant for 2:30 hours for 6 people. Fully taking the Mick and definitely WOULD NOT recommend anyone visiting. Went 30 minutes out our way and extremely...
