The Cod House — Restaurant in East Suffolk

I was the town’s first visitor to the new Motorhome Aire at the Quay so I popped in to buy a portion of cod and chips and asked if they did deliveries as there could be 10+ customers looking for a takeaway every evening (eg, maybe do batch orders for 7pm delivery time!?). There were 3 customers waiting but as a loner I got mine pretty quickly. I was asked after I paid if I wanted salt and vinegar on it, but when I replied that I’d like tartare sauce It was too late to add the 30p to my bill so I couldn’t have it. Went to the cod House as our usual chippy was closed. We had sausage and chips and cod roe and chips. Very disappointing. They don't do battered sausages (who ever heard of a chippy not doing battered sausage) . The cod roe was awful the batter was a mess!!!! Wasn't on the roe just a uncooked mess in paper!!! Too much oil was just so so much oil!!!! Chips awful not hot and so full of oil and soggy. The cod house could have gained more custom from this as more people went there as other one was closed. But they blew it!!!!...

Enjoyed out fish and chips and the sausages mushy peas etc others in our group had. The fish was very good but chips could have had a bit longer in pan for my liking as they stuck to paper. Chips are a personal thing as people like them cooked differently. It's also now new potato frying which makes a difference too. Friendly service and cooked to order for freshness.
