This has to be the saddest and worst W/spoons I have ever visited. Despite the large windows and open plan it feels claustrophobic and dark. We ordered lunch for three and paid via the app. After a longer than anticipated wait the food and drinks finally appeared. The food was ridiculously under-portioned, looking like a children's meal. When I enquired where the rest of the meal was the lady serving tables made an underhanded comment about it being what it is? I asked to speak to a manager as I was convinced my £14 burger should have had some substance about it. To make matters worse the food presented to us was cold! Alas the manager merely repeated the line that this was all you get. I was feeling like I was being taken for a fool, so annoyingly, I agreed to have a refund. Just like my dinner I didn't get all of my money back either! I did ask if the chef had given up? Lost their passion for cooking or if Lowestoft was collectively on a diet? I would have been embarrassed to send out what we received. If you're hungry, I would recommend driving straight through Lowestoft and on to Great Yarmouth which has a fabulous parade and a lot more choice. As for this W/spoons, it was dark, quite dirty and the staff were rude, disrespectful and unhelpful. We won't be coming back to the Joseph Conrad and I hope whoever reads this review takes my cautionary tale onboard.

So we found ourselves in Lowestoft on Tuesday and came across a Wetherspoons.. How could we resist 'Tuesday Steak Club'.. Wetherspoons is generally really good value for money. So we opted for the 5oz Gammon with Egg, Mushroom, Peas and Jacket Potato. Surprised to find the price here higher than other seaside towns but when you also include a Bumbu Rum and Pepsi Max how can you go wrong. So first impressions, very clean, large and bright inside.. we headed straight upstairs and noticed the lift available for customers. The upstairs was just as good. The toilets were located upstairs and again very clean and pleasant. The staff were very helpful, friendly and tentative. All good so far.. the food, so this is the reason for only 4*.. The Gammon was rather grisly and a little watery, unsure whether it would have benefited from being cooked a little bit more? The Jacket and Mushroom was also watery. Not the best Steak Club meal but certainly not the worst we have had. I would question whether Wetherspoons has recently changed supplier/products or potentially buying slightly lower grade food due to the issues with our economy? Overall, we would certainly eat here again if we found ourselves in Lowestoft.

Huge venue, very cheap beer and food, polite and helpful staff and well managed. The app works well too for ordering tonyoue table. Well presented with a bit of character. Toilets are upstairs (as well as copious additional seating) but there is a lift to get there as well as stairs. For what they are, they do it very well, so the removal of a star may seem a little bit unfair but I feel it is justified because nobody noticed the man on the table behind where I was sat emptying the contents of his stomach into a splattered puddle on the floor under the table. Credit to the staff, they responded pretty quickly when I informed them about it and seemed remarkably unphased by the situation, but the dude was stood there vomiting for about 5 minutes and nobody offered a bucket or assistance or even noticed.

what has happened to the service at the Lowestoft Joseph conrads?? We at least visit your restaurant 2-3 times a month and the last couple of times I have been absolutely disgusted! we visited fathers day to be kept waiting for 30 mins for food which is ok if the food was edible, and we had cutlery to eat it with I have to say the food was cold but due to it being fathers day we let if slide so it didnt spoil our day.

we visited again on the 16th July and I have to say we wont be visiting again, might I suggest that the manager on that day goes on a customer care course as his attitude disappointed me, the food yet again this visit was cold,I had a Texan burger which has cheese on it,surely if it was hot the cheese should melt but yet again im sure it was left waiting for chips as the chips were very hot I asked for jalapenos which I do every visit,I explained to the lady taking the order that I order ever visit and the last visit even though we asked 3 times they wasn't delivered i was told if you want them that bad pay for them I dont have issues paying but that really isn't the way forward, We visit with our son who is 3 months old as the space within the restaurant is ample for a buggy, getting the lift to the top you have to ask a member of staff to work the lift which usually we are only to happy to do,well today the "manager" said he would work the lift for us and wentdownstairs to do so so we pressed the button and the lift came from the 3rd floor with rubbish from the bar,I understand the lift is also used as a service lift but the rubbish wasn't attended by a member of staff and we actually thought it would be removed at the lower floor so we could get in,how wrong was I instead my partner had to go down and try to locate someone but everyone was busy, this left us pushing my son into the lift full of rubbish and to be honest I was fuming! I got out of the lift which stunk and asked a member of the kitchen if I could speak to the "manager" he came towards me with a handful of plates,I explained my disgust in having to get into the lift with rubbish and all his response was well you should of gotten someone, thing was it was him that said he would work the lift when we tried to leave, maybe instead of cutting the staff on a sunday you should pay and increase it as your service is lacking. I am disgusted and would not recommend your restaurant, I work within catering and you should be disgusted with the...

We had a really lovely evening meal here & I’d definitely recommend it. The menu is typical for any Wetherspoons so you know what you’re getting, how much it will cost and I do love the fact that with most main meals a drink is free. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful, the food arrived quickly and our plates were cleared quickly after we’d finished. The place is very clean & well kept, this includes the bathrooms which is always a plus for me. When our dessert was bought over the waiter informed me that he’d already ordered some extra ice cream for me as mine had started to melt - I wouldn’t have even noticed to be honest but he was already on the case & within a minute or two I had an extra bowl of ice cream on the table ☺️ I have been here before for lunch and again I’ve not been disappointed with the food, drink or service. The one small thing I would recommend if you’re going here for lunch is to sit upstairs where possible. The reason for this is that the bar (and the cheap prices) can attract a certain kind of ‘all day drinker’ which normally wouldn’t bother me at all but in Lowestoft these ‘drinkers’ do have a tendency to stare/leer a little while passing the odd comment when a female walks past them - I typically just ignore them completely which often works a treat however if you come face-to-face with them while walking in/out or to the bathrooms, it’s not always possible to ignore them. This can be quite unsettling for some people but I’m absolutely confident that if you were to speak to a member of staff should this happen, they would immediately “fix” the problem and I’m sure they would prefer to do that rather than a customer feel awkward in any way. It can be quite busy at certain times of the day and you cannot reserve a table so it’s on a first-come first-served basis however I haven’t ever been in a situation where I couldn’t find a table, but you might need to hunt around for a few minutes. Having said this, again I’m sure the staff would happily help you if you asked them. All in all, we really enjoyed the food & the atmosphere and I’d definitely recommend...

Normally and regularly I go to eat and drink here like many of us do, there's always a great atmosphere. Kind and helpful staff with cleanliness at better standard than some of the other chain locations. Today was a completely different experience which was incredibly disappointing to say the least. I understand today was different to usual as they had issues with a bit of equipment, therefore the wait time would be longer than usual. We found our cleared table to eat breakfast, we ordered food at the bar with free refills on our hot drinks then began our wait for food. We were told that there was a 50 minute wait, which with our hot refillable drinks made us agree to the delay. We waited over an hour and a half to be met with barely cooked fried freedom breakfast, which was stone cold with barely luke warm beans. Disappointed I waited patiently for our waitress to have time to come back and check on food. I found the regular working waitress to have been short tempered and a little rude. After explaining the situation, she tried arguing with me at the table, and I explained my health issues and said "please may I see a manager". This was met with a huff and "ok". Stress gets to us all but there's a standard of customer service for front of house staff, if I was doing mystery shopper here they wouldn't have hit the mark today. I explained the same situation again in repeat to the manager, including health issues. He helped like all the great staff normally do, and as a manager should. Starved and disappointed I made my way to taco bell for some decent hot food. Not recommended on issue days or with under standard waiting staff. Hopefully my next visit means I can once again sit happily with no issues and stomach full. With a completely...
