Extremely underwhelmed second visit, I was hoping for it to redeem itself from my first visit but that was not the case! I visited the Woodbridge store on Sunday (I usually visit Darsham or Aldeburgh) 3 adults, a toddler and newborn baby. We entered the cafe just as a table became free, (I waited for eye contact of a waitress before sitting as I learnt from my last visit you MUST wait to be seated. A lovely young lady saw us and told us she'd clear the table for us, a moment later a mature waitress with blonde hair and glassed rudly asked if we had just sat down, which I confirmed no and we had been seated, she did not look impressed. My husband then took our 3 year old to pick a cake, while doing so, the same mature waitress told him he'd be better off queing as table service is slow. I then went to queue with our newborn where the same lovely waiter who seated us saw me, looked shocked that we had been told that and said she'd come across immediately, which she did. When our order arrived, brought by another rude waitress, we were missing items, when I asked she looked like I had inconvenienced her, she checked our order then brought the items across, no apology. Whilst sitting, I was then told by a member from the kitchen that I should not be sat near a door with a new baby. I went to the cafe for food, not parenting advice. The door was perfect as the cafe was extremely hot (we were sat under a heater). Lastly, I went to settle the bill, after standing for a few minutes I asked another waitress if I could pay the bill, she told me I needed to wait for the ipad to become free, fine. Although I would expect there to be more than one ipad in a cafe of that size. One the ipad was free multiple waitresses proceeded to busy themselves around me, rather than taking my payment. It took for me to ask again to pay the bill for them to notice me, by this point I'd had enough of the shocking service and complained. I would definitely boycott this cafe in future, its a shame as it gives the chain a...
Read moreFirstly, I've shopped at the branch outside of Woodbridge for YEARS and love their stuff. Excellent food, well made and great quality with a lot of thought put into the products . So I thought the cafe in Woodbridge would be fantastic. More fool me! Standing like a lemon and being kept waiting while several other people walked in the 2nd entrance and were seated, was demoralising. So I just took myself towards a table and was told in no uncertain terms I had to wait to be seated. I said I had been waiting for some time and pointed out the tables that had been seated before me. Apparently she hadn't seen me.??!! No, the correct response is 'I'm sorry madam'. I should have just left then, but I was keen to eat something. The food ok. The service was awful and I felt like I had been marked as a difficult customer. However, it was the member if staff literally chasing me across the cafe, SHOUTING' YOU NEED TO PAY' which was humiliating and unnecessary. I had got up to pay as the bill had taken 15 mins NOT to get to me despite me asking for it twice. The lady on the till was lovely and apologised to me. She looked embarrassed herself. I will not be rushing back although I will still stop off at the other branch. Woodbridge has many other cafes, efficiently run, whose staff have never shouted at me or...
Read moreWhat a rip-off. We use to go every other weekend. But we've noticed the quality of the food has gone down but the prices up. Today we couldn't ignore it anymore, and had a tomato soup that tasted soap and had a unpleasant smell. Also it was under half of the bowl.... the cheese toastie is made with a very strange cheese that doesn't taste cheese at all. What I had also had no live either. So we asked to take it back. They told us to get something different and it was worse. ..dry salad with no dressing, soggy bread, just awful.....very bad quality and it doesn't reflect the price you pay. We've noticed the 2 chefs looked 18, so no life experience or passion to make the plates nice. You can see the kitchen everything is on boxes and plastic boxes,. We never got a discount for the inconvenience. There was a girl that we felt sorry and she was very apologetic, she said the chef was on holidays..... but that is not an excuse for bad food. There is a new bakery down the road close to them that sells homemade soups for half of the price, and toastie with proper cheese. It's always full of people. We will never...
