If you're staying in or around Woodbridge, make sure you book a room here. In 8 years of staying in hotels regularly, I've never experienced such genuinely warm and friendly staff. From check-in, to the bar and restaurant, they were so helpful and focused on making sure my stay was pleasant and that I had everything I needed. Even the kitchen staff, who I didn't meet, went out of their way to adapt one of their menu items to my fairly restrictive diet. Free parking, my room was clean and well decorated, had excellent wifi, with clean and working bathroom facilities with a piping hot shower and nice smelling toiletries. Shower is the fixed head type but plenty of water coming out so not a big deal. The one slight drawback is the room had secondary glazing, which let a fair amount of outside noise in, very noticeable in the early evening. The bathroom was a single glazed sache window and since I stayed on a very cold night, it was apparent in the room temperature which the heated towel rail valiantly tried to compensate for. Even with the slight drawback of the windows, I'm already booked to stay again. Highly recommend staying here, you won't regret it. Spa style slippers and a robe to use in the room too.

I’ve visited a number of times for food, not stayed over. I’ll base this review on my most recent visit which was on a Sunday afternoon in October. We were out in Woodbridge and looked at the menu outside. We didn’t realise that Sundays was a set menu only (pictured) luckily we were happy to order from this menu. The three of us went for Smoked Salmon & Crayfish Cocktail and Roast Beef (pictured) I really enjoyed my starter the salmon was absolutely delicious! The bread and butter was tasty too, decent butter was used. Absolutely loved my roast beef! The beef wasn’t too chewy and everything on the plate was very flavoursome. Two courses for £26. Or three courses for £31. I’d definitely visit again, although I think it should be made clearer before your seated, that its a set menu only on a Sunday :) See you again :)

Had a great stay here, our room was spacious and comfortable, walk in closet, settee, TV, desk, bedside tables and a large ensuite, bath, shower, sink and chair. Breakfasts were excellent as was the optional dinning with a resident discount. As we had booked 4 nights we decided to explore other dining options too, great variety all within a close walk. Hotel's own carpark provided free and safe parking. The Crown is on the High Street, couldn't be any closer to an amazing variety of shops, but also just 3 or 4 minutes walk from the estuary where you could either walk, sit and draw/read/chat, wander round looking at an enormous array of sailing boats. Thoroughly recommend a visit to the tidal mill too, the guided tour was top notch.

We didn’t stay here (thank goodness) as if the lunch experience we had was anything to go by I dread to think what the rest would be like. A friend and I decided to pop in for lunch and ordered - this took 2 attempts as my first order was misheard. While waiting an order was brought to another table that was wrong then mine arrived incorrect too, and wasn’t even the first order that had been misheard. The waitress then went back to the kitchen and I then noticed my friends meal was incorrect as well! I went inside and found her with another person who I established was the restaurant manager, who then proceeded to tear a strip off the waitress in front of me…. the poor girl was near tears, I was highly embarrassed and found it quite unprofessional.|We were then joined by a waiter who advised he’d got another wrong order - it was actually mine, but the order that had been put through wrongly in the first place! By that point he’d walked around with it and it was falling to pieces (stacked sandwiches) which he then plonked crudely back together and served us… by then they were lukewarm and soggy.|While eating said delights, the restaurant manager came up to us and advised tho the first order had been cancelled, the kitchen had cooked it anyway (although this didn’t explain the random food we’d been presented to start with, and if so wasnt actually the poor waitress who had just been given a mouthfulls fault) we had not been overcharged so no refund was due, gave a somewhat disingenuous apology and left. Then they brought another table a wrong order!|I did email the hotel manager a week ago and even gave my order and receipt number but as yet have had no reply. While I don’t object to the price (£34 for 2 sandwiches with drinks and sides of chips) for the cost I’d have expected better service - the whole affair was a total shambles and I’d certainly not recommend a...

I had been so excited to eat a fully vegan meal, and to be honest? I was underwhelmed.

I started with pitta bread and hummus (because my friend was running late). The hummus was the saltiest thing I have ever consumed at a restaurant, I love salt, luckily, and ate it all because I was starving, but it was SO salty. Like, verging on unmanageable. I asked the server to talk to the chef and I didn’t get feedback. I asked again, and she told me that no one had ever said that before and the other table had no problem. (I suggested that if they make food fresh, perhaps it was double salted?) But I clarified that I would appreciate her talking to the chef to see what they thought. This remains a mystery as my question was not answered, for a second time. The bao buns were nice, but very dry. The hoisin sauce was completely absorbed. I ate it because it tasted lovely but it was quite claggy. The chips were delicious! The sticky toffee pudding was extremely strange in both taste and consistency, and the ice cream had no flavor. To top it all off, the server came across as very rude, she completely ignored me and talked to my friend only even though I had booked the meal, paid for the meal and I was the one trying to communicate with her. She literally wouldn’t look at me and specifically talked to my friend but said nothing to me. I was quite offended and my friend noticed too, and felt uncomfortable also. For the price? Wouldn’t recommend. The service was terrible, such a shame! I love to see vegan friendly places but on this occasion the crown missed...
