Peking Phoenix — Restaurant in Eastleigh

Arrived at our Premier Inn just down the road from here at 5.30pm after 6 hours on the road from Yorkshire, only to be told the hotel bar/restaurant is booked up until 7.45pm 🤨. So Google maps to the rescue which pointed out this little gem only a 20 min walk away on this lovely sunny evening. The restaurant’s blended ⭐️rating just achieved our minimum threshold and so we turned up at unannounced 6.20pm. “Booked up”… but a table for 2 was just being cleared if we wanted to wait 5 mins. We did and glad we did! In summary, excellent attentive service from all the staff, food was absolutely excellent (we took the canton feast for 2 to try something different from our usual choices …and it was amazing) - if we lived down this way, we’d definitely be here more often. We’ll definitely keep it in mind next time we’re cruising from Southampton (and we’ll definitely book next time too!!). Great value satisfying Chinese food. Highly recommended. Thanks for fitting...

Of all the reviews I have done as a local guide this has to be the worst. I attended today having read the Google reviews and what a complete waste of time. On arrival from the hotel, we asked if they could provide a table for four and whether they had any lagers on draught. The response was the most rudest response I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Not sure if this gentleman was the owner or the waiter but his response was ‘you asked for a table sit down then I’ll answer your question about the lagers’ - he stood there in a threatening pose and more or less was saying sit down or get lost. I responded by asking the same question again and said that he was being rude, to which he shrugged his shoulders, threw the four menus into the pile and walked away. Do not waste your time going here, the place did not look great at all and then the disgusting...

Been here a few times now from what I have seen an the food I've had its has been ok. The unlimited cooked to order buffet menu has always been my personal choice.

UPDATE - after visiting again over Easter 2019 this was the worst Chinese I have ever had with no exaggeration. The lamb in black bean sauce had quite possibly a weeks worth of salt in and I like my food well seasoned, not to mention the meat was beef not lamb which makes me wonder is this why it was so over seasoned to hide the taste of the meat? Lamb being more expensive to buy. Chicken an cashew nuts tasted awful an left a horrible after taste in my mouth others agreed. Lamb curry was chip shop curry sauce and yet again Beef not Lamb. At £23.95 a head this was a complete joke. Overall I'll not be going back or recommending as theres plenty of decent Chinese...
