Really unfriendly and rude service. The staff were really snappy and abrupt with us. My partner asked if he could get the "meat panini" as that's what it says on the menu and the staff member snapped back "Well what meat?" – he could have nicely explained how it works. There was no indication of that on the menu – the menu we were handed was not the one on the website, it was much less detailed. The counter of sandwich fillings was also not labelled so I politely asked what something was (which turned out to be peri peri chicken) and the same staff member was equally as snappy and rude when he answered. How is anyone meant to know that it's peri peri chicken with no label?! This was all after we had been ignored for ages. We came in planning to have a nice sit down lunch – not only our sandwiches, but drinks, sides etc. But after we ordered sandwiches the staff member didn't bother to ask if we wanted anything else and also didn't ask if we were eating in or taking away – he just put the sandwiches in a takeaway bag, practically chucked them at us and abruptly asked for payment. I don't know how he assumed that we were taking them away as we had taken our coats off, sat at a table and were browsing the menu at the table before we went to the counter to order. Absolutely appalling service. He spoke to us like the s* on his shoe – like it was a huge inconvenience for him to be serving us. I heard the staff being cheery with other customers (calling out goodbye and thank you, etc.) so I don't know why we were treated any differently – we weren't at all difficult, just super polite. I wondered if it was that we weren't regulars, but if that's how you treat new faces, you'll never expand your customer base. The food itself was nice and I was pleased there was lots of choice – although my partner was still hungry after and said not much chicken in his panini, and £13 for two sandwiches is steep! And we realised afterwards that we were overcharged compared to the prices on the menu. Shame, as based on the choice of food alone I could see myself in there every day for lunch, but I'm certainly not rushing back to be spoken...
Read morePopped into nice buns today ordered a ham cucumber and salad cream in French bread to takeaway initially paid £5.80 which I thought was above average and then as I was about to exit as I opened the door the young lad said that he had made a mistake and I was undercharged and the total for the ham roll / baguette should be £8.95 which is absolutely over the top , there were more staff in there than customers no surprise there !!
You the owner were standing by the till , you were not busy at all if you were I can understand the mix up however if you are going to charge 8.95 for a roll french stick etc then you need to insure the service is top end and it wasn't , perhaps next time something like this happens I would suggest the best thing would be to let it go rather than call a customer back as they are exiting the premises it would save embarrassment and awkwardness on both sides and make sure it doesn't...
Read moreThe cafe seems nice, local, friendly on entry however ordered a breakfast and wrap for my son and one pot of tea (£30) to receive a cold meal- the wrap was fine as was heated on request. Once I received my English breakfast and found the sausage & hash brown to both be, at best, Luke warm I took it back to the counter where the very nice very young girl told me they were too busy to do anything about it. The kitchen staff (also young member of staff) came out and said sorry will rectify and then I heard the microwave slam I knew that perhaps my breakfast was not made to order or fresh. I ate the food as had paid quite a lot at this point but having been nuked (microwaved) most of the plate was boiling hot but now hard as a rock. Unfortunately won't be recommending or going back as what seems a 'home style' cafe isn't actually and there are plenty more worth it places to go. Actually wish I had asked for...
