PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Elmbridge

I visited Pizza express in Walton yesterday with my children and I am absolutely appalled with my experience. Once we got seated (which took over 15minutes), we ordered our food which took over 30 minutes to come due to the staff blatantly abusing a delivery driver. My children had to witness everything that happened and had trouble sleeping later on as they said it scared them! The staff including the manager Luciana was obviously verbally abusing the driver, the staff were physically abusing the driver by pushing him and trying to take his phone when he was clearly recording the horrible behaviour from the Pizza express staff. The manager Luciana was allowing the staff to threaten the driver and then proceeded to lock the doors on us customers and not allow anyone to leave which is most definitely false imprisonment. The driver apologised to the customers for the situation and asked politely to leave. However, the staff didn’t allow him to and barricaded all possible exits including the fire exit which must breach health and safety regulations (as if he had committed a criminal offence which he clearly didn’t!!). For someone with kids this did not make me feel safe whatsoever, and Luciana tried to blame it on the driver!!!!!! I am appalled by such low level behaviour of the manager and staff and I wish I asked the driver if he’s okay as I cannot imagine how humiliating this must’ve been for him as the staff were obviously humiliating him and he kept a brave face…. 1 young delivery driver surrounded by a minimum of 5 staff members does not seem very fair to me! this should not be tolerated especially as the police had to escort him off the premises as if he was the perpetrator!! I am disgusted and won’t be visiting this branch again. I called up the restaurant today to complain and spoke to the restaurant manager Kanga who pathetically spent the entire conversation defending Luciana and the staff making it seem like they were the victims. As I witnessed this first hand and it was nothing like how Kanga described I will be escalating this to the Pizza express head office to ensure someone from Pizza express takes responsibility for the abuse the delivery driver tolerated...

I visited Pizza Express Walton-on-Thames for dinner tonight and was really disappointed with the service. While the food was decent, the older female server (blond with a tattoo on her forearm) was incredibly rude to us.

When we were seated, the male server informed us that some of the starters and mains we wanted were not available, which was fine. He suggested we order the available items first and then go through the menu once again to order the rest. We agreed and picked some other dishes. When we asked the older female server if we could now order the rest of our food, she somehow looked really cross about it and spoke to us in a very rude and dismissive tone. Her exact words: “Tell me only if you have made up your mind, then I will come back” and she walked away right away shaking her head.

We felt quite startled by her reaction and had to call her back. When she saw us waving at her, she gave us this impatient look and said “So you have made up your mind now?” while approaching our table - again, that was really rude. We had been very patient and polite ever since we had entered the restaurant. We did not deserve to be treated like this.

Once she got to our table, before we could say anything, she went “If you do not order all your food at the same time, the system gets confused and it would mess up everything you have ordered.” Even though I knew that was not true, and customers shouldn’t get told off just because of that, I still patiently explained to her that we had been told to order in this way by her colleague. She said “Okay” but did not apologize for her behavior. Her attitude made us feel truly unwelcome.

We noticed that she treated other customers differently and this made us feel targeted as the only Asian customers in the restaurant tonight. While the food was satisfactory, the poor service we received from the older female server left a bad taste in our mouths. We hope that Pizza Express Walton-on-Thames will take steps to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and...

Please read this review and like it for my time: I usually enjoy eating at pizza express however I wasn't pleased when I ate the other day.

The waitress who served us was very friendly but some staff didn't seem as nice, and they came across rude at times.

The room wasn't set out very well, with most of the tables cramped together with not enough space at all. I think they can get some more comfy seats too. It was very noisy throughout the whole evening.

We had to wait a long time to even sit down, though we booked a table! When we finally received our food, the dough balls were very tasty. I tried a new pasta dish, however the pasta was dry and chewy and the sauce tasted a little like sick!

I ordered the tiramisu for pudding as I've had it before. It tasted nothing like I've had in other pizza express restaurants and it was disappointing.

It was all overpriced and not worth having.

Rude staff, noisy area, terrible seating, long wait, dry and tasteless food, overpriced.

I was very dissapointed in this pizza express and i don't recommend...
