My wife, Kath and I cycled up the cycle track from Durham with the intention of regenerating ourselves at the farm shop at Knitsley only to discover it was closed on Mondays. Desperate for at least a sniff of cake we had to commit to the extra three miles into Consett where we discovered Edward's. It's a cracking little place that serves good, honest hot and cold food. Read moreFirst time visiting Edward's today and it is the start of many visits. What a delight this place is. We loved the star light ceiling. Plenty of seating, great choice of hot and cold food/drinks. From sandwiches, toasties, jackets, cooked breakfasts to milkshakes, smoothies, lattes etc. Huge choice of coffee syrups. We opted for the cappuccinos and panninnis. The coffee was piping hot and lovely, bit of a wait for the food, but it was a busy lunchtime. Panninni came with side salad and slaw and was delicious. Now though the menu is tiny, and it took 20mins for the girl to serve us 3 hot drinks :/ which wouldn't have been a issue if it was busy but everyone else had their drinks.
