Very very disappointed with this restaurant. We called to make a reservation for my dad’s 50th birthday. We asked for a table for 7:30pm. The woman on the phone said that the next available time slot was 8:15pm so we confirmed. I called at 6:53pm again and reminded them about the booking and asked if it was possible to have a birthday dessert with a candle on it for my dad. The woman on the phone looked at our booking, acknowledged it and said that it was fine. She said she would bring something out for dessert. We were 5 minutes away from the restaurant, at 8:10pm when we get a phone call from the restaurant saying that they cannot accommodate us as they have no tables. This is unacceptable. The woman on the phone had 2 opportunities to check our reservation and confirmed everything was fine both times. She did not bring up any over booking. In fact, she actually gave us the time herself. The staff have multiple opportunities to check their reservation book so I find it highly unprofessional that this happened. We got the call from someone claiming that they came from the kitchen and realised that there were no tables. That itself is very strange because why is a chef managing customer relations and bookings? And why can the original staff at the phone not do the job properly. The man on the phone said he’d buy us a drink “next time” as if that would fix anything. Utterly disgraceful. We had to turn around and...
Read moreValentine’s Day so understood it would be busy but, restaurant is very small with too many tables packed in. Took ages for them to take our drink order, advised that we were ready to order food and that took another 20 mins before they came back to take the food order. Requested starters and main together, which we were advised not to do (we wanted it that way to speed things up for us). Ordered a lamb dish to be advised 30-40 mins later that the lamb was ‘reportedly’ tough so asked if we would have a beef dish instead. Food took a long time to come out, while take away collectors filled up any space in the restaurant, meaning servers struggled to get to tables. We even joked about asking for the bill before we finished eating - we should have!! They should have stopped taking take away orders until they had processed the orders they already had (by phone or within the restaurant). 2 inexperienced waitresses weren’t doing a lot so the owners were running the show (felt sorry for the lady front of house) and her partner disappeared - can only assume to assist in the kitchen. Food was nice when it came out but, the experience was not. Waited at least half an hour for the bill in the end, having asked for it 3 times, while people who had booked tables were standing waiting to to be seated / won’t be rushing back, which is a shame as the food was nice and...
Read moreFantastic! It was pretty busy on a Saturday night with a lot of tables for the floor space available - but they totally make it work! The service was great and the food was fantastic! With a fully packed restaurant on a Saturday in Christmas season they still managed to retain excellent attention to all customers.
We had crackers before ordering our starters and mains. We followed that with duck to share between the two of us for a starter each. For our mains, my wife had a sweet and sour chicken dish and I had the Thai Green Curry which I asked to be made extra hot as I like the heat of a Jungle Curry but really like the flavours of a Thai Green Curry. They really delivered on taste and service! We had once rice and one noodles dish and portions were generous. We left with a small takeout of what we had left.
Through the meal I had two 330ml bottles of beer and my wife had a pineapple juice and a tap water. I'd have preferred a 'pint' of something draft, but I think all the beers are bottled. The beer was good though, nice and refreshing.
The total spend was £57 - which we felt was reasonable. I mention this as I know some reviews have said it's pricey. I think it's about what I'd expect for this level of freshness and taste and will be returning again.
Highly...
