Just up for a short break. We got the impression they were immediately irritated with us, as we came in and sat down at the first table near the door. They have a sign on the counter, further into the cafe, that says please wait to be seated, which we didn't see. It is amongst a busy counter with other signs and doesn't stand out. They made it verbally clear that we had flouted the rules and brought the sign to our attention. Although I apologised, we very nearly left after that as the scowling in our direction was quite uncomfortable. The two motorcyclists who arrived and sat down outside without their golden permission were excused the scowling for some unknown reason? However the coffee and food was great, the place was clean and the verbal communication was polite. Says dog friendly and yes our dog was allowed in, but friendly no. They ignored him and didn't offer any water. I'd recommend this place as long as your telepathy skills are up to scratch, you have the vision of a teenager or haven't left your glasses in the car. Otherwise grab a snack from the bakery a few doors up and sit on the nearby benches and everything in World will be good, unlike the World behind the...
Read moreWent for lunch and was really impressed with the food quality and service of the waitresses who took our order and served us, the only area of constructive feedback is one of the male members of staff behind the counter made a few negative comments about customers in earshot of a lot of the guests including ourselves. Firstly he was moaning about customers often going to the wrong place (coffee machine) to try and pay and was then moaning that cyclists come in with £20 notes and need change. Found it strange he would openly slag off customers and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, maybe needs reminding that without customers a business isn’t financially viable before publically moaning about them, would he rather they didn’t come than give him the massive inconvenience of having to guide them on where to pay and / or...
Read moreWhat a diamond find!! Met a friend for a bite to eat and couldn't have found a lovelier cafe! Rang and booked ahead as it was Bank Holiday and the girl who answered was friendly helpful and accommodating. From setting foot in side, we were met with helpful friendly staff and the cafe itself has a lovely warm feel to it, nothing is too much to ask of this lovely cafe. I also noticed it happily accommodates customers with dogs too. The menu has plenty of variety, and there is also a great selection of homemade cakes and brownies. Couldn't fault the food or service. Sarah, the lady who runs badger and bean I commend you.... you have created something that cannot be bought, a welcoming 'feeling' in a relaxed comfortable, busling cafe! Would recommend to anyone and will be...
