Went with a large group from work (and it was pre booked as a large group), we knew it was cheap and cheerful and didn't expect to all get food at the same time because of our group size.... But those that didn't have alcohol had to wait ages to ask for a soft drink, no glasses offered to those not drinking wine (I don't mind drinking cider from a bottle but a glass is more civilised), despite early arrival of Poppadoms and that we had all clearly chosen our mains and put our menus aside early on, we had to ASK to order a good 45 mins after we arrived. It took TWO hours from our arrival to have hot food served. Serving dishes were dirty with old dried on splashes of food and meal was warm but not hot. Chicken was tough and dry and there were exactly 6pcs each. Lots ofy party didn't get their rice/sides at the same time as their main dish or vice versa. Many of us ordered the same few dishes so it can't all be blamed on the size of our group. There was no interaction between the staff and our party, no one checking if we were happy with our meals, needed more soft drinks or an apology for the delay. There were other customers when we arrived but the place wasn't exactly busy and it seemed that we didn't have our order taken or cooked before the other customers had finished eating. We again had to ASK for the bill once it became clear after plates were cleared that there wasn't even the offer of drinks/desserts....Although by this point it had taken 3 hours and we had missed last orders at the pub over the road. Food was average, customer service was...
Read moreI’ve never had to give a bad review before but first time for everything I’ll start from the beginning, We and a few friends set to meet for 7:30pm for meal chat etc as we do, As you walk in there was no greeting other than noise so much noise of people shouting over each other to hear and it was non stop till we left at 11pm So as I was saying we waited for 10-15 mins till we where seated, we then waited for another 10-20mins for to be served. We waited for another while till I thought was the starters but was instead pomadoms and side dishes, wasn’t too bad if I may say, We then was 2hrs and 30mins later our starters arrived, I had the mixed side salad, and again wasnt too bad But.... the big but. about 1hr later (by this point of lost track of time and all care of what I’m still here for) our main course arrived, I ordered the Balta chicken korma, and the first thing was, was it appetising, no it wasn’t, it look like someone had vomited into a dogs dish with only 5 bits of chicken pieces, the korma was watery, oily, and was not satisfying, I couldn’t even finish it because the taste and texture was off putting. By this time of the evening at 10pm I would be in bed but instead I ended up leaving at 11pm with an unsatisfactory feeling of unpleasantness that will later find tomorrow, that will probably resemble what I’ve just eaten. And with that you need the serious help from...
Read moreSeeing mixed reviews we were curious to check the restaurant out ourselves
First impression, atmosphere was extremely lacking, no decor, no music, place seems like it was a last minute set up type vibe - think it would vastly improve overall experience if they added some cultural decor and also just invested more in how they store cups etc. beyond the counter. Half the restaurant was also dark as the lights were turned off, definitely gave a derelict vibe
Service was slightly indifferent at the start, already felt quite awkward with the lack of people/atmosphere - but the younger server was extremely polite, smiling and improved overall experience
Food was generally okay, ordered the poppadoms (sauce plate which accompanies was lovely), chicken korma - sauce was split and lumpy, chicken madras - not hot enough, and chicken was tough and overcooked, paratha - good size but undercooked at the bottom due to thickness but seemed Homemade which is great and naan bread which was quite nice.
Overall I'd try it, might suit some tastes which can't handle too...
