I hate leaving negative reviews but on this occasion it can't be helped. This was my third and final visit to Bear sadly. I ordered Chicken and Bacon pancakes that was ÂŁ15.90 and took 45 minutes to arrive then when it finally came the chicken was completely inedible. I'd have sent it back if I hadn't already waited so long for it. The prices are too high for what you get so I never made it a regular visit but for a treat now and again I accepted it. My previous 2 visits were pleasent enough but after today I can't say I'll be back.

BEAR is a trendy cafe/restaurant with an interesting menu and lovely views over the river weaver. It is definitely worth visiting for something different. The Iced Matcha Latte was particularly nice. On the downside the staff are quite impersonal and distant. The poached eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise had solid yolks which was disappointing. The food and drink is fairly expensive but you are mainly paying for the novel menu and the trendy surroundings rather than top quality food and service.

Now I haven’t been to Northwich for a few years, and when I had to work here for the day, I was recommended BEAR by one of my best friends. She knew I’d like the atmosphere and was she right! The staff were all lovely, service was quick, the food and drinks were great. Staff were also very quick to clean tables after people had left. I worked here for about 6 hours on my laptop, and it was nice to see a mix of people using the cafe. Feels like a community cafe, but very swish. Will be going back!

We booked a table for 6 at 6:15pm during the Piña Colada Festival. It was understandably busy everywhere, and we were running a little late, but I phoned ahead to let the restaurant know.

When we arrived, we ordered drinks but were then told the kitchen was already closing and no food would be served. A member of staff did check with the kitchen, but the only option offered was chips, which we declined. This was disappointing, as we had booked well in advance and had even spoken over the phone the same day, yet no one mentioned that we wouldn’t be able to eat.

We ended up just having some basic drinks and tap water. The self-service water comes in brown glass bottles with very small, shallow bowl-like glasses, which weren’t very pleasant. I asked for proper glasses instead, but these arrived still warm straight from the dishwasher.

In the end, we left and went to the restaurant next door, which was still lively, serving food, and where the burgers we ordered turned out to be cheaper than those on offer here.

The staff were polite, but overall the experience fell far short of expectations. A simple heads-up about the kitchen closing, especially given the prices charged, would have made all the difference. Also closing kitchen at 4 on the busiest day in the year,...

Me and my heavily pregnant fiancĂ© came here to eat before her eye test. We arrived and it seemed very busy. But they were able to accommodate us. We ordered our drinks and food and sat back down. Over 45 minutes later we still hadn’t received our food. We watched the chefs continue to send food out, dinging the bell sometimes over 3 times for staff to come and take the food to the tables. With my fiancĂ©s eye appointment in the next 15 minutes I asked how long the wait would be. I was told by a member of staff that he would check for us. He came back after serving a few drinks to other tables and said “as you can see we are extremely busy, and you would of been told that there was a half an hour wait for food when you sat down” to which I replied “we we’re definitely not told that or we wouldn’t of ordered as we had an appointment” he then said “it would now be another 15-20 minute wait as there was a bit of a back log” unfortunately we couldn’t wait that long and had to leave. We received a refund for the food and the staff apologised for the issue. Used to love coming here but unfortunately we will be dubious to come again. My fiancĂ© is starving and had to go to McDonald’s instead....

I have been loyal customer over last 2 years and the Bear used to be my favourite local place for lovely brunch. I recommend it numerous of times to my friends and family and visited with people from outside of area and they all loved it. Today's visit was so disappointing that I have to leave bad review. My little one's sausage must of been left under the heater for well too long, it was all dry so asked for another one that unfortunately we never received. My poached egg was basically hard boiled egg but that was kindly replaced, then I was also missing a butter with my breakfast. I understand that the restaurant was super busy and this kind of mistakes can happen but it was just too many for one table, if that makes sense. Like one thing after another. From what I saw all the sausages were in the bowl under the light just drying to hell. Even my sourdough toast seemed that has been left just sitting there dry for ages. I don't think we will come back for the weekend visit again. Just not worth the money. I have to say though all your staff is amazing and they always...
