A hidden gem in Derby that truly lives up to its name - at Belong, you really do feel like you belong, even as a solo traveler! I arrived on a Friday night when most places in Derby had already stopped serving food. Greg, going above and beyond, made sure I didn't go hungry and arranged food for me - that's the kind of personal touch that sets this place apart.

The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, striking that perfect balance between lively and comfortable. The live music added such a wonderful dimension to the evening, creating an engaging yet intimate vibe. And let me tell you about their old fashioned - it's expertly crafted and hits all the right notes. You can tell they take their cocktails seriously here.

What really stands out is how welcoming they are to solo travelers. In a time when dining alone can feel awkward at some establishments, the staff here make you feel right at home. This is more than just a bar or restaurant - it's a place where hospitality still means something.

Impromptu Saturday night visit, having enjoyed a meal locally. We’d been fans when it was The Palfrey and like this side of the city, so came for a look… so glad we did!

LOVE the look and feel of it. Classy, modern, roomy and yet comfortable

Warmly greeted upon arrival. The gent kindly sought a cosy table for us ‘behind the curtain’. Table was wonky, but it was comfortable

Having been presented with Menus before we were seated, we initially ordered cocktails at the Bar. The menu is select (not limited). Once ordered, drinks were delivered promptly. Throughout the night we ordered both at the Bar and with staff when they came to our table

The cocktails were phenomenal, and the service was very friendly. We’d originally planned on a couple… Lol! Four cocktails and four shots each…

We had the pleasure of chatting with both Greg and Sophie during our time here. Both were lovely

The DJ was good. Glad to learn that Sunday Jazz Sessions are on the cards. Also glad to know Greg has a second venue planned! We’ll be back… We have to sample the Food...

We had such a lovely evening drinking cocktails and gin at Belong Bar in Old Blacksmith’s Yard last night.

It’s such a beautiful little courtyard and this bar is a fab addition to it. Fantastic cocktail menu, lots of gins, lovely seating areas and what looks like a great food menu. It’s industrial feel fits in perfectly with being a venue that you can relax in and enjoy drinks with friends or a date night. The table service last night was great, the lovely bartender was knowledgeable about the cocktails and was incredibly efficient in keeping our drinks topped up.

Its the kind of bar that Derby so desperately needs and whilst we want everyone to know about it so it thrives and does well, we also want to keep it our little secret so we always get a table!
