Rudest bar maid and Chef I've ever seen, do not go, me and my partner visited here and we were spoken to like children, we had outside drinks on the table as my partner was rearranging her bag and the horrible bar maid came over and bit our heads off, she asked if we would like any drinks and my partner replied no thank you, but I was going to say yes but was rudely beaten to speaking with the bar maid very sternly and passive aggressively saying well you don't Drink them in here, this is a bar, you have to buy your own drinks, and I doubt you're going to go the whole football game without a drink ok. And she walked away. So at half time we go outside for Internet signal and the bar maid follows us upstairs and gets the chef to confront us, he seems polite at first saying are you getting any drinks when you go back inside, again I contemplate this but he continues to say because if you don't you're not coming back in, this is a bar not a social conference gathering so we got up and my partner told him loudly that the bar is crap and the customer service is terrible. Moral of the story don't go, there are other bars in Windermere a million times...

The first floor were full of people watching the game, and knowing how my boyfriend loves his football games, he showed a lil disappointment for there was no place for him to sit and enjoy Final Games of Premiership. The bartender offered the second floor for us which was so kind of him. There was no TV to watch the game but it still didn't stop my very persuasive bf to ask for the wifi password, the kind bartender gave it to him. Finally when we were settled, the chef gave us our menu. We ordered Cauliflower Soup, Mushroom with Chorizo and our main which was Fish Curry. OMG, the food were all superb! The chef had been very nice by always describing the food and asking us about our take on it. I felt like we had our very own personal chef! Hahaha. Love the place, coz it was so cozy and the background music was nostalgic for me. Really had a good time in this restau! Will visit this...

Given one or two of the reviews it was a pleasant surprise. My guess is that they were short-staffed, as all restaurants and cafes seem to be, and so early service was efficient rather than overly-personal - perfectly fine with us and it visibly improved later as the room cleared and the server had a little more time. The fillet steak was excellent, exactly how I asked for it and priced in line with others in the area, whilst the lasagne was a little less impressive but still perfectly acceptable (hence 4 not 5 *). Didn't go to the sports bar downstairs, whilst you could hear it when you walked in the foyer it wasn't noticeable whilst eating. All round, we were quite happy - and full - after visiting the Beresford and so...
