Service fine, the staff polite and friendly enough. Food wasn’t as good as it looked unfortunately we travelled here (nearly an hour away) each way after recommendations.

Halloumi some of it was ok it was just plain fried but some of it was squidgy/cooked abit long and could tell when eating.

Salt and pepper wings was nice although could do with more seasoning on the chicken than the peppers.

Rag pudding was fine quite nice, I enjoyed it :) although the food seemed to of been covered in pepper.

The cheese pie, maybe it’s each persons taste however it wasn’t edible it was a crumbly cheese like pure cheese, crumbling as you eat no taste or onion or potato which was ashame as it looked nice before trying it and my partner left it. Was the kind of cheese you have with a cheese board than in a pie in our opinion.

Kids meal was fine little boy enjoyed it.

After a lovely walk in the area my partner & I enjoyed a delicious 3 course lunch today (21/11/24) off their 'weekday 12 til 3 Market Menu', which is exceptional value! Truly great food & service & a superb view across the Wayoh reservoir & the hills of Turton.

(Aug 2023)3 of us had a late lunch today & the friendly, relaxed but attentive service by Jaz (Jasmine?) combined with the really tasty & well-presented food, combined with the great views of the snowy hills & of the Wayoh reservoir, resulted in a really enjoyable couple of hours in this gem of a country inn.

2 of us back again today (Sun Oct 8th 2023 ) - lovely lunch (unlimited gravy as advertised) - ace service - ace views (ace weather helped!). A great...

We rang the day before & asked if it was alright to park car then walk around the reservoir, to later pop in have lunch no problems & very polite over the phone. After a lovely walk sunny with lovely breeze we ordered our food with a tab just the right portions delicious food & reasonable menu . All the staff very attentive smiling & checking fantastic. Reasonable parking with 2 disabled bays I had cheifs starter also 4 mains 5 pints , 2 still waters with lemon 2 cranberry juice between us,for just over £60:00 very reasonable. The reservoir walk is well worth the effort, there are some muddy patches & steep stretches ,uneven stones great for dogs also pub is dog...

Great food, haven't been in for many many years. Called in as passing on a Friday evening and very busy with must tracked full, but they squeezed us in. Staff all lovely and working very hard. Food was delicious! My 9yr old asked if it was possible to just have a poached egg as a starter and they accommodated her request 🥰🤩 one very happy child 🤣 All of our meals were lovely, no complaints at all, veg cooked well, fries wedges and sauteed potatoes across three meals were all perfectly cooked. Desserts were super tasty. Three people, three courses with drinks, £60! Great price and great quality food, really can't complain at all. Many thanks, we'll definitely be back!
