Being one of our local pubs and one we visit regularly its a shame to see the "restaurant" side has let them down massively. The service was shambolic, taking 2h 30... almost 3 to receive 2 shared starters alongside 3 burgers and a steak. The lad serving us took 30mins to tell us one of our sharers was no longer available, fine not a worry but telling us 30mins after ordering it, that's bad practice. No prices on our receipt, no breakdown on what we ordered. A steak costing £30 as which I would have never ordered if that was on their menu... displayed was "market priced item" cheeky as most eateries have prices for all listed foods and most steak houses are considerably cheaper with more on your plate! The burgers are small, coleslaw slapped on your board and tasted of very little. I dont like leaving bad reviews but this being one of our regular pubs to visit we regrettably will not return back especially after an...
Read moreThis is a great pub and well worth visiting. All the food is freshly cooked, and the chefs take great pride in their work. Coming out to customers and checking everything is OK. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming, providing a good service too. We usually visit on a Friday evening as there's live music, but there's plenty going on with quiz nights and open mic, etc. We booked a table as it can get very busy. Six of us had dinner with a bottle of wine, drinks, and pudding, which was £140 - £23pp excellent value. We don't particularly enjoy chain venues, so for us, this is a superb place to visit. All areas are very clean and there's a car park adjacent to the pub. Dogs are permitted. It's really good that Bourne End has still got 1 pub! I would highly...
Read moreThe food was okay, my smoked salmon starter was tiny and I was finished long before anyone else. There were three roasts ordered which were good but we all said the yorkies were very hard and stale as though they hadn't been covered up after cooking. We were seated in the bar area and there was a group of other diners sat around a round table in the bay window that were being very loud, it was extremely disruptive and we had a hard time having a conversation. On my way to the loo at the beginning of our meal and the end there was a table free in the restaurant area that could have sat our party so I don't know why were seated there. Desserts were lovely, best tiramisu I've ever had and the sticky toffee pudding wasn't overy...
