Blue Bell Inn — Restaurant in England

After visiting on Sunday 14th April 2024 for the Sunday roast, I was completely astounded by how this little gem of a pub had eluded me for so long. We had a starter I had the clams, my dinner parter the asparagus parcels (which ironically was only one parcel)

The roast was plentiful and we swapped the cauliflower cheese for extra potatoes that were provided on the side, the gravy was thick and flavoursome with nicely cooked meat.

We enjoyed it so much we even had a dessert, both having the amaretto creme brulee, which was accompanied by a delicate shortbread biscuit.

I always like to visit restaurants twice before I review and it just so happened this weekend (21/04/24)

After the visit this time the differences were far from subtle. This time just ordering a roast (lamb & beef) the same we had last time, once again substituting the cauliflower cheese for more roast potatoes. Once the food come out, the gravy was runny and thin. We was not given extra potatoes, we was actually given less then what other dishes going past us were getting. This was disappointing and as me and my dinner partner was conferring on the differences we was given the bill, which last week came with a chocolate each, this week that was missing. Is this an aid to cut costs, or a manager missing. Either way the consistency seems to vary to much to whole heartedly recommend, after the first visit it I would have given five stars, I won't mention this week but the rating I have given is an average...

Food is excellent but service and setup very strange. We booked as a group of 6 people for a Saturday evening and were asked to pre-book our food orders. We did as asked and called to give our food orders a day in advance. We asked if we need to also provide dessert orders but were told we should order on the day. We arrive to our booking on Saturday evening and told one of the meals we pre-ordered is not available and have to change it. We finished our meals around 8PM (food excellent) and asked to order puddings only to be told we should have asked at the start as the kitchen is now closed and food service finished. At 8PM. In the summer. To be fair our waitress was great and managed to make an exception and we had puddings. But the experience was just too strange, no explanation either re staff shortages or anything, it just seemed like they were not prepared to serve a very basic two course meal at...

Booked the Bluebell for a close family and friend venue to celebrate my 40th! We had the chef Sabrina put together a special set 3 course menu, and she was fabulous at the communication running up to the night with the checking of people coming and ensuring the night will run fine! The food that was served was FABULOUS... hot, tasty and the best alot of us have had to eat out for a long time! The bar staff and Michaela couldn't have done enough to ensure we always had a drink in hand and the food was served well with a happy and very caring manner. The space that we were placed within the restaurant was set out brilliantly and made it be a very fabulous and enjoyable evening!
