I tried to book the function room on the evening of 29th October and whoever was on the phone was extremely rude to my mother. On the first phone call when I rang to enquire and mentioned I had tried to contact through their messenger service and website contact form to no response I was told “it depends who is in the office”, no apology having had no response for a few weeks. We were later told abruptly that they were “scribbling us out of the book” when saying we were looking for 50 guests instead of 70 (which was not mentioned previously to myself as the girl rudely told my mother that she had (she hadn’t) and also despite the website stating 50 guests can be catered for on a particular buffet option which we would have been happy to pay for). Maybe update your website then? Perhaps more effort needs to be put into customer service and communication as we are certainly not going to choose this venue now. Really disappointed as we had heard good things about them prior to this and having attended many work Christmas nights were there were less than the “70 people”. Working in psychological & mental health services (& previously in retail) I am always mindful of the way I speak to others which means I always talk politely, perhaps the girl was having a bad night? Read moreI went to Borge last night with 4 of my friends, from a friends recommendation. I could not rate this place higher. Firstly the atmosphere was perfect, despite it tightly packed in, there wasn't an abundance of loud people or too much background noise to distract from our own conversation, the music was modern and fun. But quiet enough, to again not distract.
The service was wonderful, extremely quick and attentive, but didn't do an annoying amount of check backs, as I have worked in service, and these can be forced upon you. But they only came over when necessary, and were very polite, helpful and extremely efficient. Also the owner was around and delivering friendly and helpful table service, and he was a bubbly fun character, but again, didn't try to be the main character and come over too often. Fabulous.
And the food. The food was next level. I knew it was famous for its parmos. But 4 out 5 of us got a different pasta dish, and every single one of us, left saying it was the best pasta we'd ever had. It was well presented, delicious and arrived so quickly from the order. The garlic bread starter was among the best I've had anywhere too.
All in all, one of the best places I've eaten. And I will be coming back. 6/5 if I could. And the value for money felt almost like I was performing robbery....

Multiple times I’ve rang before 8pm and they say the kitchen is shut sorry. Basically they either don’t want the custom or just can’t be bothered.
Tonight was the worst experience I’ve had. Rang at 19:45 pm to place a take out order and I got told the kitchen is shut. I said it’s Saturday night surely it can’t be shut at this time knowing the restaurant will be busy. I said could you please ask I was looking forward to a takeout. They came back and said we can but it will be an hour and 15 minute wait, I said that’s fine. The girl goes away for a while and I can hear them talking and she’s saying what do I say. She eventually comes back on the phone and says the kitchens closed 😂 I said you’ve just said I can order if I wait? What is it the kitchens closed or the restaurant is too busy she said it’s closed. Pure lies and just didn’t want the custom. Such a shame because I’ve never had a bad meal in the restaurant or with take out and the owner is really nice.
