Heard amazing things about this place, it seems really popular and I've wanted to go for a long time. Well, tonight was the night. It was okay. First off, the venue. It's a decent location by the river and the vibe is there. It was fairly busy when we went, but it still felt like you could eat in private due to the layout of the building. The decor isn't over the top, but it's maybe a little too understated. The tablecloth wasn't all that clean and looked to have some small, old'ish stains on it, but it was no showstopper. 3/5 The food - little torn on this. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but for me the description didn't really explain that it wasn't a traditionally presented curry dish. It was marinated chicken breast covered in fried 'potato tubes' which I can only describe as McDonalds fries served up after having being put through a grater. In another restaurant I might have been asked by the waiter if I knew what the hell I was ordering when I asked for rice (which didn't go with the dish at all), but in this case I was left to order it regardless and the rice sat untouched for the whole meal. As for the taste, the marinated chicken tasted great and the 'McPotato tubes' added a nice bit of crunch. However... I have a pet hate about how some places will serve you a curry dish that absolutely swimming in oil, so much so that it separates out onto the plate in a greasy mess, and unfortunately this was one of those places (see photos). My friend had a more traditional style curry, and his was the same. However, if this doesn't bother you and you like flavour then you may enjoy it more than I did. Also 3/5 Staff were really polite, friendly and (aside from letting me order a mismatch of food) professional. This made it hard to tell them the food wasn't as good as I was hoping, so I didn't. Maybe I should have. Finally, price was what you'd expect to pay, although the popadums seemed pricey. I mean, who even checks the price of popadums before you order them? 😂 I did have a chat with a waitress about why I'd left my rice uneaten (she asked), and I sort of hoped they'd graciously remove it from the bill, but alas, it was still there at the end. Fair play, my mistake. I'd go back and give the place another chance and post another (or update my) review, but on this showing it's an overall 3/5 for me.

After being told this was the best Indian around for miles we thought we should try it and gods knows how this place has got it good reviews. We arrived to be first greeted by a flifthly bin area which looked horrendous. We actually thought the place was closed as it was so dark and dingy looking. We went inside and there is a sign saying they do not take debit cards only cash !! So it was a good job we had some cash on us. We was taken to the back to a corner table and we sat down, we noticed that not just ours but several table clothes was marked with what looked like mouldy marks on them, the walls had several food stains on them which hadn’t been clean for a while. My husband went to the toilet and he said it wasn’t that pleasant or clean so I didn’t go, the floor looked like it hadn’t seen a hoover in months as there was crumbs and rice all over the place it was so dirty. I had a lemonade and it was flat as a pancake. The food came and even though it was hot it didn’t have much of a flavour and I have had much better takeaways before. We will not be returning that’s for sure.

Good welcoming and pleasant environment with nice decor and a cosy feel. Not too loud or quiet but a nice environment to converse with your group. We had a range of starters which were very nice and the choice is good too and found something for everyone so that's a good plus point. The mains, ordered a range but honestly felt as it was quite bland, I wasn't too impressed and with the meat dishes were a big piece of meat rather than smaller chunks as you would expect to find in a curry. I suppose this is their method but I don't think it works as a curry. Dessert choices were poor, hardly anything so for a restaurant wanting to be class, this is something that should be offered. The service I thought was a little hit n miss. At times the service was good and quick, other times hard to find a member of staff. I think it was on the higher priced side but not the worst I've come across. I think the experience was good and I think the positives outweigh the negatives but I don't think a 5 star review is warranted but nor is a 3 star.

Having read of all the awards Vadah has received, and being a big fan of Indian Food our party of 4 were really looking forward to a night of fine cuisine. Where do I start..... Upon arrival my first impression was that the restaurant looked 'tired'....didn't give you the feeling you were in an Indian Restaurant at all....least of all a smart clean classy one as described. Whilst being seated we were asked if we would like Poppodoms....we chose to order drinks first and asked for a little time to peruse the menu......upon arrival of the drinks we were again asked if wanting poppodoms and did we know what we wanted to order for our mains....all a little too rushed for our liking. Poppodoms / Pickle tray were the worst I've ever had (and I've eaten at most curry houses in the area ) no Lime pickle???, just 4 tiny pots of runny flavourless sauce. We did request Lime Pickle which was the strangest Lime Pickle I've ever had, supermarket pickle would have been better. We had all chosen our mains but Waiter persuaded us to have the Specials as they would be "better" .....no sooner had he taken the order to the kitchen did he arrive back with the food....we couldn't believe it! How could that be freshly prepared?...we felt it was cooked waiting, ready to go to whoever could be convinced to order it. Our dishes were:-Afraan Chicken, Vadah Morasan, King Prawn Dish and House Specials Chefs Specialities (described as chicken breast cooked in spicy massalla, garlic, red onions and mixed peppers) tasted very unpleasant and salty, I left most of it. Rice was described as Pilau but sure it was plain with turmeric added, portions were small- good job we had naan breads and even they were dismal. The whole experience felt very rushed, from arriving to them hoovering up whilst we were still eating. Bill can be paid by Cash or Credit Card only...No Bank Cards???? Having looked forward to visiting Vadah for so long we left realising we weren't missing out on anything.....didn't feel like we'd had a curry at all and we certainly won't be back, there are definitely better eating venues out there to spend your money on. P.S. Even the dark Vadah chocolates given as we left were white when unwrapped as if they...

Myself and my boyfriend visited this restaurant on Saturday (7th Sept) night. Having seen this restaurant win a National Curry Award NCA recently we looked forward to great dining experience. How wrong we were, we were very disappointed on all aspects of this visit. Firstly we were greeted by someone behind the counter who did not even bother to engage eye contact or look up from what they were doing, they checked our booking and then just pointed to the seating area and asked us to take a seat. No one came over to offer a menu or ask if we would like a drink, so we waited patiently. It was a short wait when a waitress came to take us to our table. Before we even sat down at the table the waitress asked if we would like some poppadoms. No drinks, no time to take off our coats, just do you want any poppadom. We order 3 and they arrived within minutes. No one came to take a drinks order so I had to call a waiter over. The poppadoms and dips were very disappointing, the poppadoms were soft and the dips very bland. Yet another waiter arrived after a short time to take our food order. We advised that one of us had a dairy intolerance and did the Chicken Goanese Curry contain dairy, the waiter shook his head and said no. There was no engagement or reassurance around food allergies that we raised questions over, just a yes and a nod to confirm it contained no dairy. No suggestions about other dishes that could have been ok, there was no customer focus or engagement and we were quite surprised there was no menu that highlighted all allergies. The main course came very quick which ruled out any hope this was anywhere near fresh. We were in and out faster than a fast food restaurant, not the romantic evening they advertise and the food did not taste that great either especially as it was very over priced for the quality you received. We will not be...
