After my husband has put up a review of his experience, I feel the need to stick up for myself here . I went in to this tea room today with my family. We ordered off the menu and politely asked if there was any chance of a couple of ham sandwiches for my sons - we had already ordered two frappes, 3 other drinks, pancakes, and 2 open sandwiches. I never ordered something that 'wasn't on the menu' (as commented on the response in my husbands review). You provided freshly made ham sandwiches in your children's box! We only asked for then without the rest of the children's box and was told no! After paying about £45 I had every right to discuss with my husband that that was untrasonable. I by no means never shouted and we sat at the back of the tea room where two women were sitting, if they heard then so be it, the 'Whole cafe' did not hear. I waited for my family to leave and than spoke to say I was "frustrated" I wouldn't put this review if I had been spoken to politely by the staff member. Her response to me was "we are a small business, if we do it for one we will have to do it for everyone, it's like going in to pizza hut and ordering a steak when they don't do steak". I responded by pointing out that they do do ham sandwiches so we only asked for something that they already offer! I just wanted it on a plate for a 14yr old instead of a kiddies box! Their response to my husband is a complete fabrication and extremely unfair. I worry about what would happen if someone with certain allergies were to go in and be...
Read moreI have been visiting Box of Goodness for over 2 yrs @ never had a problem . However , after visiting today I felt the need to put a review out . Arrived with my husband for a coffee @ cake this morning , it was not at all busy @ appeared well staffed ( 4 staff behind counter ) We waited 10 minutes , as I sat @ watched staff chatter amongst themselves loading the dishwasher I thought , any minute now our order will arrive ! To no avail . I finally got up and went to the counter to ask if there was any chance of receiving order ? !! Staff all looked embarrassed , staring at each other . My order had clearly been forgotten !! No apology made . Finally drinks arrived . So disappointing and very annoying , given that we , your customers are your bread and butter . I would have understood if you had been rushed off your feet , with few staff . This was not the case ! Had I have received an apology , I would not be bothering with a review , but I didn't .What should have been a relaxing enjoyable Sunday morning ,was just simply ruined .Some training on Customer Service would be a good idea . How do you forget a customers order ? Seriously ! Shall not be returning .Get your...
Read moreChanged my mind about this place. They may purport to be dog friendly but I think dog tolerant is a more apt description and only if your dog is tiny, unobtrusive and you don't allow it to have any dog chews to keep it occupied whilst having your coffee - oh and as an owner you are happy being patronised like a naughty school child if your dog gets in the way of customers or staff, or is found chewing a dog chew! (even if they are lying down being good). Safe to say, I won't be "patronising" this place anymore. I'm sure they'll cope.
Further to their reply, I didn't object to moving the dog, although the phrasing and tone of the request implied I was being somewhat of a nuisance; but I did object to being told, "You aren't allowed to give your dog any food, I've told you before". This is a great example of how to patronise and lose customers, especially as I HAD been told about raw dog bones that I had respected and taken on board and my dog was chewing a dog chew that was basically a toy with peanut...
