The Barley — Restaurant in England

Very impressed with our meal. We popped in to see when they started serving food as it was 11.30 and their sign said 12.30 but they were well underway with breakfasts and lunches. We went for beer battered fish chips and a choice of mushy or garden peas, and a prawn and Marie rose sandwich with a choice of brown or white bread. The service was very prompt and served with a smile. We also had a pudding from the specials board, OMG cherry pie and custard or ice cream. And again very prompt service. Lastly we had a decaff tea and latte with syrup and best of all for the 2 of us around £40 which we thought was very reasonable. Thank you to the staff and we will see you again...

We haven't had a meal here at The Barley in years! But we were in Newport today under sunny skies and it was a relaxing walk around and into the Barley we went for lunch. It was very good the Chicken, Tomato and Lettuce on Ciabatta bread...had onion rings on the side and it was just a perfect meal. Fun being back and the servers were so nice and friendly. You can be sure even if it is raining the next time we drop into Newport that we will again have a meal...

Ordered a hunters chicken and my mother had the oap menu, when the meals arrived her meal was bigger than mine. I told the girl on the bar before I started eating to which she replied 'it's because your meal costs more to make....I can get you some more chips if you want' fortunately I said no cause the chips were way over cooked. Also I fail to see how my meal cost more to make as we both had chicken. My side salad consisted of just lettuce. Won't...
