Tea On The Cobbles — Restaurant in England

We used to come to tea on the cobbles regularly, every few weekends, for breakfast whilst our daughter was at her dance class. We absolutely loved visiting and recommended to all our friends. Unfortunately, since they started hiring new staff it's really gone downhill. We had a bad experience a few months ago in which most of the food was overdone and cold which put us off. This weekend we decided to give it another try, which was a mistake. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for our food, a big breakfast and a toasted sausage sandwich, in this time only two other customers needed serving food and they had toasted teacakes. Once the food came, half of the food in the big breakfast was again overdone and my husband couldn't force himself to eat it. Such a shame as it used to be our favourite place to eat in Newport but we won't be coming back again after 2 bad...

I visited Newport with my kids and found this café on Google, we drove to have breakfast as we had checked out and our accomodation does not do breakfast. The lady immediately said once we got in that the big tables were booked for 10 and we would only have half an hour. I then suggested that we could have our food to go. I asked for toast and jam for my kids as I assumed it would be quicker and I just wanted to feed them as they were hungry which i mentioned to the lady. The lady then said she is not making any toast at the minute and she is just serving hot drinks. It seemed like this lady was not willing to serve me and I could only wonder if it is because my kids and I are black and Newport is not particularly diverse. Best place we have had a scone for years. The staff are lovely and friendly. The cakes on show looked amazing and all home made. My other half said the coffee was good, he is the connoisseur of coffee. We had scones which were out of this world. Someone in the cafe was having breakfast which if we hadn't had breakfast would have been a good choice it looked great and clean plates is a good sign. Can't...
