This pub has had a variable background, veering between some highs (the original Broomhall Hutt and the original Sunningdale Lounge) and some abysmal lows - the last being the Sunningdale Lounge mark two.
So luckily the 'new' Broomhall Hutt is on the upward trend. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food and drinks are good, the establishment clean and inviting. The Sunday lunch is very popular with a good choice of roasts, all of which come with a selection of vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes.
Since my first review of 4 stars the quality of the Sunday lunch has gone down. On our last visit both the meat and the vegetables were over cooked and there was a strong sense of microwave. The staff were grumpy and unless talking to their mates (the 6 people in the bar) they couldn't have been less interested and spent most of their time sat down poking their phone. The lager was OK, Guinness not great, but the worst but was how dirty the pub is. Definitely best not to look too close a the upholstery of the chairs or touch the tables - and what is that smell? It's such a shame as it should be an absolute gem of a pub given the location, but sadly it seems to be...
