**EDIT after owner replied within 1 hour THEY HAVE COMPLETLEY RE EDITED/DELETED THEIR (ALBEIT BARELY LITERATE) RESPONSE TO THIS REVIEW, LUCKILY I HAVE A SCREENSHOT WHICH EVERYBODY CAN SEE ATTATCHED. This is going straight to head office 😃 - It's a pity you're not as quick to clear tables or bother doing checkbacks, as you are to jump on your phone and reply within an hour of us leaving the pub** Quality has reduced dramatically in the last 12 months. We gave The Butchers a go today for the first time in about 6 months, after several previous experiences that seemed to reduce in quality each time. The medium rib eye was dreadful, nothing that the chef has done wrong, just an awful, grey, sorry looking, strange smelling piece of meat. My wife left the whole steak save for a bite, and when the plate was collected, the waitress didn't enquire as to what was wrong. Again, we couldn't send it back because we'd just be served more of the same. All the staff (including management) walked round with faces like smacked a*ses (our table was booked for 4pm, the pub was very quiet yet there were multiple tables not cleared) None of the staff care one jot about the customer experience, and there seemed to be a lot of new faces behind the bar and serving too. No check back for our mains or desserts to see if everything was up to standard. I settled our tab (table 18) and the barman didn't even say thank you, just moved on to serving the next customer once the transaction had gone through. The Butchers, you used to be a cracking little pub, and I always made a point of tipping cash when settling our tab, but those days are gone. We won't be returning.

So first of all it was mad busy which is a good sign for a pub but there was no one hosting as you can reserve tables I had to wait at the bar for 15 minutes just to find out where I am sat and had a table booked for 7pm (arrived at 6:45) We got shown to the table and there was someone already sat down and they didn’t move until 7:10pm which caused delays No sorry no nothing from the team The food was average and the only good thing about the pub was the atmosphere because rugby was being shown and it was packed

One of my favourite pub for dinner as I came here many time last year to enjoy the good food unfortunately today disappointed me. As today was the last time went here ! maybe the new staff ( never seen them before) should take some knowledge about cooking .. Fish tasted raw fish , not cooked inside .. outside was burnt and oily, chips ..left in oil probably from 2 days ago..also boneless chicken strips were burned on outside .. 🤮 20 minutes after i comeback home i felt awful.. With stomach pain…

We visited 29th December there were only 2 members of staff serving at the bar in what was, for a friday afternoon, quite busy 90% of the tables were reserved for customers arriving later that evening which presented difficulty in us finding a table initially. We ordered food and drinks the staff at the bar were very busy a 3rd person would have provided some respite for the two who were working flat out. Southern fried chicken burger a cheese burger two corn on the cobs and a kids veggie nuggets with mash and beans. Fruit shoot, lager top and lime and soda as drinks. Food arrived by the only other member of staff we saw, 3 chicken nuggets and a piece of scampi (good job we are not vegetarian/vegan or allergic to seafood). Burgers were ok but the chips and onion rings went cold quickly because the plates were not warmed - i mentioned the lack of veggie nuggets to the bar staff not a complaint but as a comment that the kitchen really need to keep these items separate from each other to avoid illness or shock. Finished with 2 lattes which were really nice. Total cost £35 which is reasonable and yes we...

Updated 16/11/22

We followed up on Gary, the manager's, offer to rebook and give them another chance to rectify the unfortunate ' welcome' we had on 21/10/22. I can't recommend them enough. What a change from the last failed visit. The food was great as was the service. Our party of 3 enjoyed the whole afternoon spent there and won't hesitate to book again. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

I didn't even make it into the pub to eat. Myself and 2 others stopped there on 21st October just before 7pm. We hadn't booked so 1 of our party went inside to see if a table was available. It was busy but there was a reserved table available that wasn't needed for the next 2 hours . It was explained to the young female working there that I use a power wheelchair so would need 2 chairs moving so as to access the table. She refused to remove 2 chairs and repeatedly said she could only move 1. Even though I was waiting outside, I felt totally embarrassed and humiliated that, in effect, I was being denied access for the sake of 2 chairs being removed...
