After a rotten day we decided instead of our usual great takeaway we would go again to the CM. We had a bad experience one year, service was awful and waited nearly 3/4 of an hour for our starter and walked out. Well we thought we might give it another go. Though we got the food this time we were sadly disappointed. The starters Onion Bhajis were nothing special and my prawn Puri was minuscule and very bland. Our mains my Vindaloo was okay, but my husbands dish which was Korai was absolutely tasteless. Our meal came to over £100! One glass of wine was £12 !!!! Even the Ivy Restaurant in London do not charge this and to be frank I was disgusted! Sadly we won’t visit again… The Raj takeaway in Shoeburyness is far superior, plus you can go a few doors down to get a couple of bottles of wine for a bit more than one average below par glass of wine. Staff were lovely though, this restaurants saving grace. Such a shame.

We had an absolutely amazing meal here the other day.... From the atmosphere in the restaurant and the beautiful decor, to the outstanding food and the wonderful service, it was some of the best Indian food we've had in a very long time. Our servers were super friendly and helpful with the menu and they helped us with a few suggestions. We also loved each of the dishes ordered... I was really craving butter chicken and they did a version that was sooooo delicious (easily one of the best I've had in the UK). The samosas, bhajis, naan, rice and lamb rogan josh were all wonderful as well. The desserts too, classic lemon and coconut surprise, were a fab finish. I would definitely recommend coming here as it's a wonderful option for great food and service. :)

Amazing fresh authentic food, beautifully presented and with attentive speedy service. The decor is contemporary, modern and spacious with modern Asian music and video projection. Unfortunately this was a little loud for my liking but was quickly turned down once asked. Due to this it didn't have quite the romantic feel, but the food and service was exquisite. Oh and who knows how the Tastcard deduction was calculated! All in all it's a must visit!

Cafe Masala is the best Indian restaurant i have ever tried. We have been using our regular Indian restaurant in Westcliff for nearly 10 years, but a steady decline was noticed. many of the takeaways seemed to be swimming in oil hardly any meat,i mentioned this to the owner hoping it would rectified, it wasn't our last meal there i had to use paper kitchen roll to soak it up and half the meal vanished in front of my eyes. enough was enough. so we have been searching for 6 months for another restaurant. So far we have tried 5 others without success, until tonight.I hardly know where to begin to tell you how happy we were trying this restaurant, at first i thought it was a little expensive compared to others, but i have to say it is great value. If you looking for cheap regular curry try elsewhere, if your looking for amazing food, generous portions this is the place, the amount of lamb in my Lamb Dansak was astonishing, my chicken Bhuna was the same, the flavours just blew me away, fresh, vibrant and no any excess oil , the naan bread was still fluffy even though it was a takeaway. easily the most tasty Indian food iv'e ever had. At last i can look forward to Indian food again, i can't wait to try the...

Ordered via JustEat at 5.40pm, before heading to see a show at the Cliffs Pavillion. The app said it would be delivered by 6.50pm, fair enough its Saturday night.

At 7pm we called to see where it was to be told it was being bagged up and would be 10 minutes. Called again at 7.15pm to be told it was our for delivery but theres two deliveries to be made.

Called again at 7.30pm, we gave our address and was then asked what we wanted to order! We explained after 1 and 50 minutes we want to cancel the order as our taxi had arrived to take us to the show.

At 8pm just as the show is starting my other half got a call from the delivery driver asking why we arent opening the door! We informed him that it had been cancelled as it had taken 2 hours and 10 minutes for an order of four currys, four rice and three bread. Absolutely shocking.

We have ordered from here in the past and really enjoyed the food. However we wont be using them again as this was appalling service and now we have to fight with JustEat to get our money back as the food was marked as...

Such a lovely experience.

Came for my mother's birthday with a party of 7. Was greeted very warmly, chairs pulled out under the table and offered for our jackets to be taken.

The lovely man with the hip glasses asked us for our drink orders whilst another young waiter came around the corner with poppadoms and chutneys after requested.

Mains and starters arrived with custom requests for how chilli we'd like all sauce dishes to be as well as if we wanted them to come together as a table.

Hot plates and hot trays were placed and then came the food... WOW. All the flavours and authenticity was there; the condiments and curries were ON POINT.

Then came dessert. The banana fritters and coffee floats were lovely and as you'd only expect from a lovely local South Asian restaurant, the birthday cake was that finishing touch my mother adored on her special birthday.

Thank you to the team at Cafe Masala and I would above and beyond recommend this establishment to everybody in and around Essex. A true...
