Costa Coffee Thorpe Bay — Restaurant in England

This is my favourite branch of Costa hands down. The staff here are what really makes it for me. I do have a branch slightly closer but much prefer Thorpe Bay. However, I visited on Sunday 3rd August 2025 and was severely dissapointed. There is a new manager called Andrea and she seems unable to organise the place when she is on shift. Sunday mornings are always busy and this was no exception. When I arrived there were around 10 people queuing with another 8 or so waiting for drinks orders. This would not normally phase the staff but under the manager's lack of direction, the other 3 staff were doing everything except making drinks. The manager seemed flustered. As I joined the end of the queue, a man went past who had just got his coffee said to me that i would be waiting a long time. I don't mind waiting, but after 5 minutes, noting that only 1 coffe had been made, I decided to leave. This is only the second time in the years I have been voming to this branch that I have done this, the 1st also being when this lady is in charge. I recently revisited this Costa Coffee after six months, and I was impressed by the consistently high standards that made this visit just as enjoyable as my last. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming, with a clean and well-maintained environment that really adds to the experience. It’s clear that the team prioritises cleanliness and presentation, making it a comfortable spot to relax or work.

The staff at this Costa deserve a special mention—they’re exceptionally well-organised and attentive, creating a sense of seamless service. They always seem happy to help, whether it’s recommending a new drink, customising an order, or simply ensuring everything you need is taken care of. This level of customer service makes a noticeable difference, especially compared to other coffee shops where the service can feel rushed or impersonal.

Overall, this Costa Coffee has proven to be a reliable favourite. The quality of the coffee and the care put into each drink, combined with the excellent service and inviting environment, make it a step above many other coffee chains. Today is the 25th of October 2020 (approximately 15:00hrs). Paying for your food straight away, without having to wait long, but the waiting time to get the drinks and food is more than 15 min. More than 10 people being served already, but still waiting for the drinks and food being made.

Food is ready 10 min earlier before the drink and than by the time your drink is made the food is cold already.

3 people working only. They are very busy. One lady is making the drinks, another lady is warming the food. They can not manage with the preparing everything on time, while the male (the third person) at the till keeps on serving people (taking the payments for the purchases).

Overall very bad experience, zero organisation and zero customer satisfaction!
