I ordered the Decadent Tiramisu Cheesecake from Cakes & Bakes for a family birthday, and we were extremely disappointed with both the product and the customer service that followed post sale.

Despite being marketed and sold as a cheesecake, what we received had a sponge base instead of the traditional biscuit base one reasonably expects when purchasing a cheesecake in the UK. The defining characteristic of a cheesecake is a cream cheese filling on a biscuit (or cookie crumb) base — this is the standard understood by consumers and reflected in how cheesecakes are advertised by virtually every reputable bakery.

This matters because it goes beyond personal taste — it is about truth in advertising and consumer rights. Customers are entitled to get what they believe they are purchasing, and when a company advertises a cheesecake but delivers something else, it borders on misleading representation. When we raised the issue, instead of acknowledging the concern, the business insisted they were correct and refused any goodwill gesture or refund.

For a company selling premium cakes at premium prices, this is simply unacceptable. Beyond the product itself, the lack of accountability and dismissive post-sale customer service is what leaves the worst taste.

We have ordered cake for my daughters 2 year birthday day, we received total different cake than we ordered, on topping they used only 1 fruit (which was not even fresh) instead of multiple fruit which was on their official app, one of the guy prasad told my husband that they use only seasonal fruit.

We have ordered mango flavoured when we tasted it was only vanilla, when we called them they told us that they have used mango flavoured syrup was not enough, while complaining my husband have been told to visit shop for some complimentary service which we refused.

Sponge inside the cake was hard, while cutting the cake we feel that it’s hard, as i don't want to spoil my daughter’s birthday I didn’t mind it.

Instead of using fruit and macrons they used extra cream and chocolate, so cake became too creamy.

Overall staff are so good that they accepted their mistakes.

I ordered a pineapple cake for my parents’ birthday and had such a wonderful experience! The service was excellent – the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to customise the cake exactly as I wanted. They even offered me different design options and were open to the ideas I shared, which I really appreciated. The cake was ready right on time and looked absolutely beautiful. It was moist, soft, and spongy, with the perfect balance of sweetness and plenty of pineapple. Most importantly, it tasted amazing and was loved by everyone at the celebration. All this at such a great price – truly amazing value for the quality. I would highly recommend this shop and will definitely be ordering...
