Another honest review. Firstly let me say for the food I score this place just a small fraction below 5 stars but not a full 5. I ate in had a takeaway it was that good. Paw bhaji was beautifully served and tasted great. The tea was lovely, strong and hot. 5 stars. I had 2. Takeaway is not the same. Crispy aubergine was very soft. The service from the 1 young lady serving was 5 star. I will definitely go again but not view it as a reviewer The reason why I give it just 3 star. We go out not only for the food but the whole experience. The skirting board was dirty all the way round. The window step was dirty and needed cleaning. The door saying staff only was filthy. The side of the counter just needed a bit of spray and a wipe. Customer's see everything. I did not see a toilet or somewhere to wash my hands.
There was no heating, 1 staff wore a coat. It was warmer outside.
What I saw. A lady bought out what looked like toast, with a note possibly with a table number on it. Before she put it on the tray the note fell on the floor. She picked it up off the floor and put it back on the toast. Staff behind the counter should not sit and play with their phone or even be having lunch. This place really has the potential to be one of the nicest on Leicester
All in all the food was great. I will go back for a takeaway or on a warmer day. For anybody who has not tried this place, try it as food really is very good.
In addition. The arroma of my paw bhaji is still on my hand 2 hours later. This is a sign of great food...
Read moreI went with high expectations after seeing online reviews n insta recommendations, but was highly disappointed. The interiors were beautiful and extremely thoughtful with all tricolour sofas, aarti playing on the TV, even tricolour pani puri was a pleasant surprise. The taste and service was a let down. How can you not give emily ki chutney with pani puri and call it authentic pani puri!! There was no pudine ka pani either. They literally handed over jal-jeera for pani puri. I do not like spoiling the image of pani puri. Only the aloo masala was nice n puri was crispy. Pav bhaji - quantity was generous , taste was okay, not too bad. Felt the salt was bit too much. Could have been better. Overall , too pricey. Not worth the money. To add to that, the staff was charging extra 50p for card payment as the bill was below £10, or asking me to go out fetch cash in the rain. I already didn't feel like paying for the food, I had travelled from far specially for this place, wasted time and hopes of authentic Indian food. The lady said she was new and didn't know much, there was nobody else around. I don't kno why they had left a new staff member alone without a senior, n give that as an excuse for poor service. There are endless Indian restaurants on that street, with half prices, better food,...
Read moreWorst restaurant I have ever been to. I would give them minus stars if I could. We were a group of 4 adults and a young child. We asked for my child's meal to come out first and they brought it out last which ended up being the wrong meal, so my child had to wait even longer for the correct meal which turned out rubbish, the cheese wasn't even melted and fell out all over the place and my child couldn't eat it in the end. This was today, on Diwali, at lunch, and the staff laughed about it, then were rude about it saying it was just a mistake with a bullish attitude. Makes us feel they did this on purpose only because we asked for my child's meal to come out first. No apology and a rude refund on my child's meal. They made a child wait 45 minutes for his meal on Diwali and broke his family's heart. My child was so hungry and our food was way too spicy to give to my child at the time of waiting. I managed to give my child the edges of my meal, but it wasn't enough. How cruel can people be? The restaurant is called Jai Somnath and has a Shivling at the front. He is watching your disgrace. Using his divine name and acting inhumanely towards a child, and his family, on Diwali....
