Last time we have been out to eat was Feb 2020, so we thought that right now it would be great time to have our first family dinner out with our little one ( 13 month old. ) Reason we chose the table table was because the kids menu looked healthy and full of choices. We visited Callywith Table Table in Bodmin on 28th November 2021, booked table for 16:15pm. I have never ever been so disappointed.
Firstly, the customer service was very bad, we didnt feel welcome at all ( didnt give the family friendly vibe at all! ). Under our table there was lots of food from previous customers - not cleaned up at all! When the staff member came to ask what we would like, we asked if the roast was still on, they said that is sold out ( we really wanted the roast and on website it said roast all day- false advertising ), then we said not a problem. We then chose something else from the menu ( I chose Ultimate Filled Yorkie with no onions and my partner went with Christmas Burger ) as soon as my partner said what he wanted then the staff member started walking away and we were like “ excuse me but we havent order for our child yet “ and they didnt even say sorry or anything and asked ok what can we get her. I said the 3 course kid meal . veggie sticks as a starter, as a main sausage & mash with beans and peas with no gravy “ and then the staff member said ok and walked away. We thought okay guess they will ask about the kid dessert after we have all had the main foods. When the foods came out thats when i started getting even more disappointed. My Ultimate Filled Yorkie still came with onions. My partners Christmas burger didnt have stuffing mayo and no pig in the blanket. Then what else shocked me was that the kids plate was hot and it was placed exactly in front of my 13month old daughter - who in their right mind puts a hot plate in front of the child plus it still came with a jug of gravy. Then the next surprise was the “veggie sticks” were not sticks, we were given sliced cucumber and tomato ( it was supposed to be cucumbers, carrots and red pepper sticks! ) - and the staff didnt say anything about why we were given cucumber and tomato slices instead! - WE DONT LIKE COMPLAINING AND BY THIS POINT WE WERE QUITE DISAPPOINTED ALREADY TO SAY ANYTHING AT ALL! . So now more about the food - the mash was horrible, must of been some sort of powder mash plus it was really dried up. The gravy in my yorkie was like brown oily water no thickness to it at all. The peas on my food and on my childs food were over boiled and looked old. The Beans on my child food tasted disgusting ( I have tried lots of different beans from the shops and even the cheap value beans from the shops tasted better than what table table served. ) Only thing good on my food and on my childs food were the sausages. My partners food the burger meat was dry, the house slaw was like eating cardboard and the chips were overcooked. The staff never even came to check if everything was okay. After we had “finished” with the mains we were just waiting and waiting. Noone came to ask about kid dessert. So when we finally managed to flag down a staff member we just asked for the bill to pay and get away from there! Staff seemed to care more about their christmas decorations than their customers.
If you want a good customer service and a decent food, then that is not...
Read moreOver the last few years my wife, daughter and I have visited the Callywith at Bodmin many times and unfortunately the level of service from the staff has just got worse and worse to the stage that I would now say there is no customer service. On our last visit 09/04/24 we had booked a table for 6-15pm but arrived a little early at 6pm and entered the building and waited for a member of staff to greet us and show us to our table. The member of staff behind the bar failed to look up and acknowledge our presence and just continued to pour drinks and place them on a tray which I guess was a table order as there was no one waiting at the bar. After standing there for at least approx 10 minutes another member of staff appeared and asked if we were being dealt with. I would have thought it was pretty obvious that this was not the case as we would not have still been stood there. She showed us to a table and then we had to wait for over half an hour before eventually the same member of staff came to our table to ask if we had placed our order we replied no and she took our food and drink order. The place was not over busy so why we had to wait so long I do not know. Our food came out pretty fast and was quite nice but this was the only good point of our evening. We were then ignored for absolutely ages after we had finished our main course and I had to eventually call the same member of staff over so we could order a dessert. The dessert was brought out a few minutes later by the same member of staff who just placed it on the end of our table as she walked past without saying a single word to us how rude was that !. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill as there was no chance that anyone was going to ever bother to come to our table and ask us if we required anything else. During the whole time we were there we felt that we were an inconvenience to the members of staff and they would have preferred to have had no one to wait on. Whilst we were there we saw other people wait between 20 and 30 minutes at the entrance before a member of staff took them to their tables. Another couple turned up and hadn't booked a table so they were turned away at the door when there was at least ten empty tables. As we left we heard one poor elderly gent who had been waiting at the entrance say " I have been waiting now for over half an hour and all I want is a table to sit at". The management and Whitbread Group should be ashamed of this establishment and need to sort it out immediately or eventually they will have no customers to worry about. I would like a response from someone within this company to explain why the level of...
Read moreOne star is for the nice helpful young lady NOT for the FOOD, We as a family Went on Christmas Sunday for a family get together pre booked in November, sorry to say even though there was only 2 other tables in use so almost empty they were not ready for us , table not layed , could find our booking to start with , once seated they gave menus even though on booking we also supplied what we would be eating back in November, food arrived with each course at least 2 out of 12 we’re missing, what can I say about the starter prawn cocktail well presented, wish I could say about pork lollipops 🤦♀️ We’re pork meatballs on a wooden stick very fatty & grisly , pork crackling dust was something else, all I can say more were left on the plate than were eaten, now to the mains turkey or pork roast , vegetables were something else roast potatoes very pale still frozen in the middle, sprouts were nice bright green because they were both frozen in the middle & very strong due to under cooking hard to get fork into as still frozen, as were the carrots, peas were perfectly cooked, gravy nice but sadly on plate not on turkey roll dry & a blue steak was definitely not at all and gravy on chips is not so good again should of been in a individual pot , stuffing ball not cooked at all . Now to the last course if the Trifle should have been served with a straw as even the jelly was more liquid aerosol cream had sunken into the custard as that also wasn’t set , sadly the Christmas pudding was also uneaten due to the custard which was just sweet hot liquid. Needless to say all of us will not be going there again , on a plus side after the first course the staff brought out a bin bag and handed out crackers s it started to feel more like a family’s Christmas meal , that’s if the vacuuming wasn’t being done . The staff was very nice and helpful but very few on duty Sadly for the price tag of over £20 a head we feel it was...
