Questionalble service?
Really disappointed today, after visiting this restaurant several times before. We booked a table for two people, on arrival we had to wait about five minuets to be seated, not a problem. We eventually ordered some drinks and our food, that was fine starter and main were ok.
When our mains were served my husbands came out first and the waitress was rudely interrupted by another customer who shouted across asking her if he could order desert. The waitress served my husbands main then went to take the order of the other diner who wanted dessert. I then had to wait until she had finished taking his order for main to be served, then disappeared. I did want to ask for some condiments. I waited patiently to try and get the attention of other staff members, 10 minutes later I gave up and approached the bar to ask as my food was getting cold. It was also difficult to order more drinks. At this point I was still ok as, after all, it wasn't the fault of the waitress that a customer rudely interrupted her.
Once we had finished eating our mains the plates were collected and I asked if I could see the desert menu. We ordered a desert, then 2 minutes later the waitress came over and asked us if we can kindly move to the bar to have our desert as they have a big booking due in and they need our table. She did say she would also move our tab to the bar. We said yes of course, however, I said we no longer wanted desert as I didn't fancy sitting at the bar to finish my meal and our second drink. We had been at our table a less than an hour and I found it inappropriate and unacceptable to move us on, to accommodate another booking.
We went to the bar to pay our bill which was just under £90.00 as we had paid a £10.00 deposit prior. I mentioned to the man behind the bar that I wasn't really happy that we couldn't finish our meal at our table and that we had been there less than hour. The staff member brushed it off, he didn't really comment and wasn't really bothered.

Read moreWe always choose the Chimneys as it’s great place for us and our babies (About 7 of us) to come and meet. In our group we have someone who is highly allergic to many food groups and dining out can be difficult for them, however, the managers at The Chimneys have always taken it very seriously, handled it with care and have created lovely meals for them ( another reason why we choose this pub). Unfortunately, the last time we came was a different story. Not only did the manager on the bar say that they couldn’t help with their request and have us feel like it was an inconvenience, when they finally agreed to do the same meal they had last time, the meal came with lemon on it (citrus being one of the allergens that they are highly sensitive too) and it had to be sent back. The manager did express his apologies and said that he thought she meant ‘Citrus Onions’, but in my view this is inexcusable, foolish and made her feel very anxious. I don’t like to complain and write negative reviews as I myself have worked in hospitality and know that they can be detrimental to a business. That being said, I thought it was important to highlight how crucial it is to get dietary requirements correct. I’m sure it wouldn’t be seen as such an inconvenience if a customer was to fall ill or worse. I would like to mention that the young girl we had as our waitress was fantastic and couldn’t have done anymore for us (it seemed that maybe she had more managerial skills than the...
