Found a fantastic dog friendly (if accompanied by responsible owners) cafe just off the esplanade in Swain Street, Watchet...Chives Cafe. The staff were friendly, polite and professional making every customer welcome from the moment they entered and until leaving. The Belly Buster breakfast is enough to set anybody up for a day of sightseeing. The bacon is thickly sliced and tasty, the sausages dance on your taste buds. And there is a choice of bubble and squeak or hash browns to accompany the mushrooms, baked beans and eggs. Plus two rounds of toast, all for £6.95 All necessary measures are taken to avoid the transmission of Covid-19(23/4/23).

Lovely staff, good, honest food. We came to visit Watchet on a muggy day in Spring and this little place caught our eye for lunch. They welcomed the 5 of us in and saw us to a table. They have a food menu for children an adults alike. Our 4 year old got a hot chocolate and proceeded to spill it. Staff were happy to help clean up the spillage and gave us a new cup without charge. I enjoyed smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, with a side salad. They also have a good selection of home made cakes which we enjoyed afterwards.

Nice little cafe near the harbour & open on a Sunday afternoon. Good range of food including vegetarian & gluten free options. Picture shows gf goats cheese & caramalised onion. Sweet shop & delicatessen also part of the cafe. Dog friendly too. Service was quick, efficient & friendly. Parking is about a 5 minute walk away in a public carpark with disabled bays.

Stopped in with my family - the waitress was visibly sick and coughing. I mean I witnessed her cough on food she served someone. She would cough mainly in the back and the give away was the red nose you’d get from tissue scratching the delicate skin on one’s nose. I left. It’s an adorable cafe, but no one even asked why we were leaving. The one blonde lady did not even care that we left as she seemed indifferent, rude, and, obnoxious. I’m shocked they’d let someone visibly ill serve the community as most are older and their health should be priority. I have an understanding that the world is currently in a crisis of living. I do not think that is good enough to come in sick when you are working in a restaurant/cafe - around food for consumption and older adults that could contract respiratory illness and easily pass away. Look into this now. Horrible!!!!! Shame on whoever let this woman work with...

I was staying in Minehead, but I wanted to find somewhere interesting to go for a walk and get some breakfast before driving back up north, so I had a look at the map and saw that Watchet was just 5 minutes off the road. I stopped at the car park by the town hall and asked a bloke who was setting out some things by his shop where I should try. He pointed me to the Chives cafe and told me it was right round the corner, so in 2 minutes I was sat down ordering the full English, a cafetiere of coffee, and some fizzy water. The coffee and water arrived almost immediately, and the food soon after. It was lovely, very good bacon and sausages, the coffee was nice and strong and it was about £10.50 all in. I had a little walk round afterwards and saw the harbour, and was very happy I'd stopped here and seen Watchet. It reminded me a bit of Ilfracombe, a proper working harbour and a great view from the...

On approach staff seem friendly more so the male , we 9nly ordered off smaller appetite menu as we were not overly hungry , from that point I didn't feel that warm welcome . The kids food was so hot (no warning either ) that it would have likely burnt their mouth ir hand (common sense is needed here ) macaroni cheese had nice bacon topping but packed any true flavour Inc a good lack of cheese . Custom didn't feel appreciated much on leaving . Had better service and welcome at local pubs. Won't go again but feel we won't be missed either maybe they don't take to kids much . No changing facilities either . 2 stars mainly fir food quality and the general feel...
