Hellikers Cafe — Restaurant in England

I visited Hillikers cafe as other cafes around the corner were very busy. Hillikers had only one other guest on my visit. I ordered a cream tea and my wife ordered a panini with salad. There was an odour of grease/fried food in the cafe which was quite off putting. The cream tea arrived with 2 scones which initially looked good. It became apparent there wasn't enough jam for 2 scones. The scones were the worse ones I have possibly ever tasted. I initially thought they were wholemeal but then realised they were stale. My wife's salad was inedible and clearly pass it's best. There was an older woman with dark hair that was clearly quite new as the younger larger woman was very rude to her and constantly gave her orders. There was no cutlery or napkins presented with any of the food and this seemed like an offensive request for the larger woman. It was almost as if Basil Fawlty gave her lessons in etiquette. The prices were very reasonable but the food quality and service were very poor so I will not recommend visiting...

Terrible place. After a long journey from Birmingham on our way to Lynmouth we stopped here for some breakfast. We chose this place because of the other reviews that seemed good. First the tables were small and cramped, the lad that served us had finger nails like he'd been digging dirt with them all day. The food was rubbish. Sausages were hard as if they were the previous days. I asked for tomatoes and got fresh tomatoes, ok some people might like fresh tomatoes but I wanted tin, the tea had a funny taste to it. We had to ask for Brown sauce and utensils. There were no serviettes anywhere to be seen. All in all not a nice place, I recommend you try another cafe/tea room...

Amazing coffees, hot chocolate, and selection of teas and other drinks. Cakes and pastries to die for. The staff are amazing, chatty and very very welcoming. Dog friendly, especially with my 2 Chocolate Labradors and 5 Miniature Schnauzers. The owner was caring towards the dogs fussing them and telling us about her 4 colours of Labradors she had a warm affection for my labs.
