Very accommodating, lovely Sunday Roast and drinks - dogs welcome, and the other regulars, also made us feel very welcome, even giving them treats. Back ground music, was my sort of music 5☆ from me. All in all great atmosphere, and very pleasant staff.

Nice old school pub, a couple of good real ales on, we had food it's a simple pub menu the curry I had was very nice, as you come into the pub the area to the left is dog friendly,

I have never experienced such rude treatment in a pub before. Three of us (perfectly behaved, totally sober gentlemen in our late 70's) called into the Bell Inn at approx 8.30 pm on Aug 20th and bought a round of drinks. The only other customers left shortly afterwards, and the landlord and barmaid retired to sit in the far corner of the lounge. When I got up to buy a second round the barmaid said we couldn't have one, as there was nobody behind the bar to serve us. As it was only 9.15 and no 'Last Orders' had been called, I thought she was joking, but the landlord also refused to serve us, repeating, word for word, the barmaid's reason. Despite such inexplicable rudeness, we left with no argument, the barmaid immediately latching the door behind us. What a contrast in hospitality compared with the Watchet pub where we dined the evening before.

Added Aug 27, following the Bell Inn Landlord's response which suggests my version of events is a "fabrication". I checked with my two colleagues who confirmed none of us were told at ANY time that the bar would be soon closing. We were only aware of it when we were refused a second round, for the reason first given, above, so cheeky I thought it must be a joke. It must be inconvenient keeping a bar open at 9.15 pm with only three customers present, but perhaps numbers would increase if they were treated with a little more respect. No hard feelings, we may be back, if only out...

Thought we would book a meal for the four, because of reading good reviews about the good food and friendly atmosphere. Our wrong I was, we were put onto a very tight table to get in and out. We had to order at the bar ,ordered three steaks all different when the meals were delivered to our table the lady just handed to us with out saying witch one was a rump or a sirloin to be honest you couldn’t tell . One of us ordered her meal with a jacket potato ,but arrived with chips, told our server, she took the meal away ,then the meal arrived back with out the bake potato, the potato arrived ten minutes later by the manager at the bar with a very rude comment in fearing me made the mistake when ordering at the bar our orders were not written down . When the waitress came to clear our table after our meal she didn’t say did you enjoy your meals or would you like a sweet. One last comment if you would like any more drinks jurying your meal you after visit the bar your self in the meantime your meal is going cold. I would recommend anyone to give...

If you're after a friendly local whilst on a Somerset break, avoid this place! 'Mine host' was reluctant to take my booking for a 6,30 table for two, sighing throughout, and unfortunately we had the temerity to get stuck in traffic on narrow roads, arriving a whole 3 minutes late. While I parked the car our friendly landlord barked at my wife 'you'll have to order within five minutes'. A 'hello' would have been nice. The place was virtually empty at the time. In all my years of drinking in pubs, I've never been made to feel as unwelcome as we were here. We ordered the bare minimum, paid up and were out within 50 minutes, going to a more welcoming pub to spend our money. I suggest you...
