Chutney's — Restaurant in England

Very disappointed with the service I received tonight. I have ordered from Chutney's once before, earlier on in the year, and didn't think there would have been an issue...boy did I wish I had checked the reviews on here and just eat. The star rating and top comments do not give you a true picture of what to expect when ordering food from this company. I have no idea how they were given a Curry Award.

Initially, I placed our order at 6pm, and did expect it would take a little bit longer than usual due to New Year's Eve, so the 1 hour delivery countdown wasn't that much of a shock. The delivery window passed, so I thought I would give them a quick call and check to see if they have actually received/processed the order. The man who answered the phone politely checked and confirmed this. He apologised and said they were short of drivers, and that the food was actually prepared and ready for delivery. He said to allow 20 minutes or so to get this over to us. Ok, no problem. It is NYE after all.

45 minutes later, I call again to check whats happening, and I am told by a different guy that the food hasn't even left the restaurant(!!!) and "it is literally leaving now, will be with you in 15 minutes maximum". He said he would throw in some extra sides as an apology for the lateness.

30 MORE minutes go by and at this point my wife and I are on the verge of calling to cancel and go somewhere else and it finally turned up at 08:20pm.

Food was average at best to be honest, it wasn't bad but most of the dishes were slightly warm and our chilli paneer was basically just chilli powder.

Oh, our complimentary sides? One extra poppadom. ONE!

Think carefully before...

I don't usually post reviews however, due to how poor the delivery and then service was, I feel the need to actually leave a review for once.

We ordered our food and were told delivery would take 45 minutes, an hour later we received a call telling us it was running late and would be another half hour, I found this perfectly fine for a busy shift.

Another hour passed by and we called the restaurant to be told the delivery driver "was just leaving" and he would be 15 minutes. Another half an hour passed by. When the delivery came, the driver was polite but stated they had put in some Poppadoms "on the house". There were only the ones we had ordered in the bag.

We then opened the delivery and found that the butter chicken we had ordered was covered in thick grease. The containers these came in along with a chicken tikka were crushed and the grease and curry had covered the rest of our order. The poppadoms and chips we ordered along with Naan breads were soggy.

So we called up Chutneys and briefly explained this to the lady on the phone, she has then just handed the phone over to a male who claimed to be a manager. This male has just contested everything we have said, despite having photos to send, he has continued to argue and blame us for the exceptionally long wait and telling us we lived too far away. We have just had to hang up from this argument.

Unfortunately you have to leave a star review, this is not worthy of the star I have to put to...

The new owners since 2023 are a bunch of scammers who just want your money period with no passion or love or respect for food and consumers. This place is a living health hazard the food is absolutely disgusting tastes and looks all the same flooded with colouring and cross contamination nothing is really veg they cook on same pan meat seafood veg Honestly they dont even wash it . Guaranteed you will find traces of meat and chicken as they put leftovers from cooking meat in the base grave . test it if you dont believe me. am just notifying you all a friend of mine worked here so its a fact as well as i have seen it for my self absolutely disgusting cant believe these guys. you all deserve what you pay for and this place has no standards take a look at the reviews dont take my word for it. if you love your self and your family stay well away from this place all work area prep area and foods open exposed to all sorts . if you want proper indian restaurant food go to Chilli Tree off narbrough road excellent food great atmosphere well experienced and established chef an absolute legend from 70s try it to believe ME. Bless him after he knows what a Currys are and how to cook them to great satisfaction good luck all stay safe and well and KEEP us all and family and friends informed about these health and safety hazard like these numptis . i wouldn't even give it a 1star honestly people look at...
