The view and location are second to none. Food was fair, though the scrambled eggs seemed a bit odd but otherwise no complaints.
The service however wasn’t great. We went on Father’s Day and there were long waits for food which is to be expected.
We were given a dirty highchair which we cleaned ourselves, no problem, these things happen.
When we asked to swap something on the breakfast because one of the table was keto were immediately told they don’t make changes. We hadn’t even finished asking and found the flat and quick refusal unusual for a restaurant. We arranged to swap certain items ourselves so everyone would have enough to eat.
We asked for colouring when we saw it at another table, but it wasn’t offered off the bat.
My little one who had been patiently playing while waiting for his food asked a server if he could have a biscoff biscuit that he’d seen come out on lots of saucers only to be told they came with large drinks. I asked our waitress when she came past who said we couldn’t have 1 as they were only served with coffee. We had ordered 2 large teas and an apple juice by that point, and I get that there shouldn’t be an expectation but food was on a one hour wait at that time, and it would’ve cost them maybe 10p for an unwrapped generic biscuit to please a 6 year old who had been waiting so patiently. And given the effort the restaurant goes to for its doggy visitor who don’t order off the menu, it made us feel a bit unwelcome and seemed very stingy.
When the bill came they hadn’t deducted our deposit which was probably a genuine mistake and was fixed immediately but it all left a bit of a bad taste in our mouths and certainly wasn’t what we expected.
It’s a pity because really it was the lack of flexibility in service that ruined things and the location is lovely so it’s very disappointing all round as we won’t be going back, and I had hoped we’d found somewhere a...
Read moreTruly awful.
We ordered the “focaccia” which was greasy, seemingly fried pieces of a French stick, store bought hummous, floppy olives and tasteless oil and balsamic. For £9.50 this was extortionate.
For our mains we had the fish and chips and the meat hanger burger.
The fish seemed to be old (very fishy and slimy), the peas over boiled, the chips were cooked but nothing was seasoned.
The burger - said to come in a brioche bun (it was a cheap knock off of a McDonald’s bun, certainly not brioche), the patty was unseasoned, dry, over-cooked and gristly, the sauce was tasteless, the slice of pickle was soft and floppy, the red onion in there even seemed old. The cheese was cheddar, not American as advertised which was overpowering given everything else in the burger was tasteless. The lettuce was at least fresh. The chips as with the chips were fine but not seasoned. I daren’t touch the pot of coleslaw it came with.
For £17 for a main I’m amazed this place has remained open. Charging premium prices just because they can whilst skimping on everything else is insulting to diners. Even if you are coming here for the views, it’s set quite low amongst the surroundings so you won’t even catch a good sunset from there (better view from the car park).
Cliffhanger was impressive with how terrible the quality of food is. The staff are friendly, and they allow dogs, but I wouldn’t come here again or recommend it to anyone, the worst meal I’ve had the displeasure of tasting in a...
Read moreWe have been to the takeaway part of this restaurant and absolutely loved it every time do we decided to have lunch. So lunch is not cheap. You are looking to pay between £16-£25 for a main meal - starters are around £12. We got our meal and I would say it was great in some places but not great in others. My chicken burger was tiny - I think that’s the smallest fillet and burger bun I have ever seen!! They do give you almost a potato’s worth of Chips so you get filled up by that - but really didn’t really find that acceptable for the price of the meal and then one of our fish and chips was well over done as you can see in the pictures and it detracted from the taste of the fish. This was a huge shame and to have such a discrepancy in inconsistency is not great! It shouldn’t have been served the fish - but it was and we paid £18 for the privilege. I don’t think we would use this part of the restaurant again. It’s a shame - because I was so looking forward to it. The staff were great though and you could have access to free water. The milkshakes were finished in two seconds flat - the glasses look impressive but they actually hold a micro amount of liquid! I know it’s tough out there with finances etc - we could have forgiven the meagre portions - but the fish was one step too far - we shouldn’t have paid for a...
