The Catch Fish & Chips — Restaurant in England

Such a shame as we are local & have used this place a lot. Remarked only the other day the chips were so nice & then today, totally opposite. Just been served the worst meal I’ve ever had from a fish & chip shop. I understand you are busy with holiday makers/visitors & that apparently you are using different potato’s but serving customers insipid, under cooked chips & a sausage which is so pale & under cooked it was virtually still roaming the fields isn’t going to help your ratings! I threw it in the bin as I didn’t want to risk food poisoning! I was offered that the next time we were there, they’d do something to compensate for this bad meal but that’s where you went wrong. I wanted my meal today not next time! Most places would give a refund for goods not up to standard, or offer to cook another one straight away, apparently chip shops don’t. Treat the locals right & you have customers all year round, treat them wrong & you’ve lost them. By the way, your chip boxes & left over food are littering the entire town & beach too so I hope the seagulls don’t get food...

I visited this fish & chip shop on the way home from my trip at lunchtime & oh my goodness, I think I've saved the best til last as I ordered the haddock & chips with curry sauce, it was quite pricey but when I got down to the seafront carpark to eat it, I opened the box and my meal looked delicious and it was, freshly cooked chips with a lightly battered, golden melt in the mouth batter with white flaky fish inside, I didn't need the curry sauce which is just as well as when I tried a little bit on a couple of chips it was horrible, watery & cheap tasting as if from a packet, I would of expected a much better quality going by the high standard of the actual meal that was cooked for me.

I can't wait to return when I am next in the area as the male server was polite too, I can't say service with a smile as who knows if anybody is smiling with these stupid masks on, although they are meant to keep us safe which is the...

I love a local when on holiday and did read the reviews for this place and from that decided against it 🤷‍♀️ BUT... I looked at berties and the price was way over my budget and plus they've too many shops. Lin's was also looked at. But I went to the catch and glad I did. Fish was cooked fresh and the chips 😍😍😍😍😍😍 omg I do love a good chip lol the fish was crispy and full of flavour, so I can't understand the other review. But I will say this m8 your staff need to be older and people friendly. It's letting your lovely F&C shop down. Common sense with the amount of salt and vinegar given and a flick of the wrist with the most miserable looking face ever seen. Let her get a job in tescos or morrisons and hire a friendly woman with a bit of chat ❤ but your fish was fantastic and your prices outstandingly reasonable. Thank you for making...
