Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

I waited longer than I would have thought acceptable. However I had to listen to the women on the till reprimanding one of the assistants because apparently he didn’t make 2 particular drinks. My order was a Large Latte. No vanilla or cakes. A gentleman came to the counter and explained that someone had taken his 2 drinks off the counter. Hence the assistant had actually made them after all. The drink I was served to take away was a vanilla latte, instead of a normal latte. Why is this so difficult to achieve. I didn’t know this until I left the hospital. Given the slow service along with incorrect order it frustrates me to understand how this simple request couldn’t be delivered. 3 people serving as well. I wasted my time and my money as I cannot drink vanilla. No recompense. No return...

Carrot cake served in/on a paper bag with a plastic fork. Toasted teacake and butter served together in a cardboard packet, making it very difficult to spread the butter as it was a melting puddle. All hot drinks served in disposable cups and water served in one-use plastic glasses. This Costa doesn't use reusable crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. as they don't have a dishwasher and haven't had one for at least a year! How can the owner of this franchise (?) justify this? The amount of waste produced in this Costa must be phenomenal, as it's a very busy cafe. I'm not sure how much waste is recycled, but all the waste from tables (that customers seem to have to clear themselves) goes into one bin, and I suspect it all then goes into a central general waste bin. Would've given no star given the option, not all staff but the young man there today, absolutely disgusting customer service, i have my arm in a splint bought two coffes and when i asked for a double cup holder it was if it was to much trouble to go to the back and get them as he through the cup holder on the counter towards me and left me to struggle with one hand to put the cups of hot coffee in the holder, it wasn't busy and three staff on the counter, if it's to much trouble to help customers in a "retail/food service job" don't do it.
