Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

Absolutely first class service. The kindest most welcoming and polite Costa staff we have ever met. They also offered to wash our special Costa cups after our first drinks. Normally the Costa staff we give our cups to, to be served our drinks with, give us an unwelcome look....as if it's all a bit too much bother and it breaks their routine of serving in their normal way. Admittedly there were few other customers when we visited that evening but the hospitality these two staff gave.. one name I asked...her name is Christine, they were just lovely people. Now me and my Mother have decided that's going to be our go to Costa... even if it's out of our way and there is a nearer Costa, we will instead choose to go there. They said having just come out of lockdown that they have a lot of customers during the day. The downside of writing a review like this, is that it is no longer a best kept secret meaning we don't want to attract more customers... it's busy enough as it is. It's a new build and really a nice interior design. Oh one last thing... they also offered and bought our drinks over to our table. I love service like this...it makes us feel like we are people again. On my second visit (see original post below), it was a Sunday morning. Three staff on duty, but really slow service for those using the restaurant. It took them over 5 minutes to take my order and at least another 5 minutes to make the drink. Presentation was poor as you can see from the photo.

I think that drive through orders are prioritised and you’ll get a better service that way. On the plus side the facilities were in good condition on this visit, but it’s unlikely I’ll ever be going back here again.

(Original post): I stopped off here for a coffee and snack on a weekday morning. I dined in and had a pastry and large coffee. The large coffee wasn’t a good choice; the mugs provided are heavy, cumbersome and have two handles to hold to drink it. Not a good look nor comfortable to use either. While there I used the facilities. One was out of order and a member of staff was using the other. When they’d finished it was disappointing to see the room was rather a mess with tissues and water on the floor. The cafe has a drive through, is fully accessible and even has four dedicated motorcycle parking spaces along with disabled parking and...

Never again. Staff members stand there staring at you, don’t offer assistance or help when can clearly see you need it. Rude attitude, older man in there back-chatted back to me and another person , he was very very rude and had a very bad attitude. They look at you like your an alien when you go to order and make you feel like your asking for the wrong thing. Not a single word from any staff members, all got miserable faces and glare at all customers and will only speak to say the price to pay-ironic. Will not be going again. Starbucks round the corner had great service and was so much better!! Really recommend Starbucks, not this costa.
