Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

I visited your store on 16th April at 10:00am.

The purpose of my visit was to spend a few hours working from Costa, as we’re currently working in the area. I paid £6 for parking, ordered food and drink, and had planned to stay for around four hours. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to the store’s Wi-Fi, and my mobile hotspot wouldn’t work either — which was disappointing, as it limited my ability to work.

That said, everything else about my visit was exceptional.

As a former Store Manager at Poole High Street Costa and a Skills Trainer/Hotel Manager for Whitbread, I’ve seen the Costa brand from many sides. I'm also a regular Costa customer — and I can honestly say this is by far the best store I’ve visited.

Although this isn’t my usual location, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the team. I ordered a vanilla flat white and a chocolate twist and was thoughtfully asked if I’d like it warmed up. The coffee was hot and flavoursome, and the pastry was fresh and delicious.

The atmosphere in the store was brilliant. The team were active and engaged — I saw them cleaning the exterior of the coffee machine and maintaining a spotless environment throughout the dining area. They were also interacting with customers, including children, in a genuinely warm and friendly way. It was clear they were positioned well for efficiency and teamwork, and the cake displays and fridges looked full, clean, and well-presented.

Every single team member on shift was smiling, approachable, and chatty — creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere. It was lovely to see, and I really believe they all deserve recognition for their efforts.

Even as I got up to leave, a team member approached with a smile, kindly offered to take my tray, and wished me a great day. It was a simple gesture, but it really left a lasting impression.

Having visited several other local Costa stores recently, I can honestly say this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. The difference in service, atmosphere, and overall customer experience is remarkable — and it really highlights just how well this store is being run.

I still remember Costa’s core values — Passion, Pride, and (I’ll admit, I’ve forgotten the third!) — but I can confidently say this team is living and breathing them.

As the store got busier, the service remained consistently outstanding. Whatever you’re doing here, it’s working — I imagine your customer feedback scores are fantastic, and rightfully so. Many stores could learn from the example being set here.

Warm...

I had an appalling experience with Costa Coffee that I feel every coffee lover should be aware of. I placed an order for a cold coffee on a scorching day and waited for over an hour without any updates. When I finally rang to check, the staff brusquely told me my drinks were ready, sitting in their store—then promptly hung up as soon as I mentioned I’d paid for delivery as well. They insisted I’d have to “chase Uber Eats” myself because apparently Costa only makes the drinks, not delivers them, despite charging me for both. Their blatant indifference and refusal to help left me no choice but to cancel. Getting treated like that for a simple coffee order is unacceptable. Life’s too short to pay for a hot, melted drink that never arrives and to be treated with such disrespect. I won’t be ordering from this branch again (or recommending it to...

I often visit this cafe as it is conveniently situated in the middle of the high street which is about 5 minutes from my house.

It is a lovely open big premises which remains calm and quiet even during busy periods I have noticed.

The coffee is generally good but I have had the odd cappuccino which has been 90% foam so I now ask for a flat white which is better.

The staff are not very personable but polite all the same and the wait time for service is usually very short if any.

Where are lots of outside tables which naturally does create a cloud of tobacco smoke to walk through in order to get through the door, if the clouded view out of the window offends you I would recommend another café as this place is popular...
