First visit here and the place was absolutely rammed. Friday night so probably to be expected with a relatively new Indian restaurant which has had rave reviews. We saw our friends were already there and sat with them and after a wait of 15 minutes we were asked if we would like some poppadoms. These were duly delivered and then consumed over the next 15 minutes and no one had come to take our order. I called a waiter over and said we were ready to order, nothing for 10 minutes, then called another waiter over and said again we were ready to order, after a further 10 minutes , called the original waiter over and he came over and took our order. The food came out about 8.00 pm (we had been there since 7.00!). I have to say it was absolutely delicious but the only good thing about the evening. We were sat chatting waiting for the dishes to be taken away and to our utter amazement a waiter came over at 8.45 with the bill and After Eights! Apparently they wanted the table as people were waiting. Iām 72 and in all my years of going to restaurants in this country and abroad have never experienced anything like this! We have in the past had restaurants say when we booked we could only have the table for two hours or a certain period of time but this was never mentioned when we booked. We made them wait at which point they asked two ladies at a table next to us (the table was for four people) if they would move to a table for two but much to our amusement they wouldnāt move. Luckily for the people waiting another table had eventually become free so they got sorted but this post is just to say be warned if the restaurant is busy you might get the bill earlier than expected. We got no apology so in spite of the food being good we will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was really good, everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. The service was ok, and at points not so great. As soon as we sat down, we were bluntly told they would need the table back at a certain time (which is fine, but why not say this when booking?). We were then told itās a bring your own alcohol, again this is fine but why not say when we booked? I donāt drink, but a member of my party does and went to a nearby store. When we first entered, the waiters were crowding the doorway and it was very awkward because there was no place to wait, and instead it felt like we were in the way before we were seated to our table. Again, I class this as ok service. But this doesnāt deter me at all from returning. The curries were delicious, the portions were good and even whilst writing this review - Iām getting hungry thinking about the food and I canāt wait to return. The decor is nice enough, and the prices are reasonable. Absolutely would recommend the Chingri Achari (it has king prawns), it...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePoor food, bad attitude. Visited Sobo Nabab for second time yesterday and it will be our last. The father and son running the business are the problem. We complained that the Goan fish curry and peshwari nan were very bland. We have lived in Southbourne for 27 years but before that Leicester and have eaten a lot of curries and love Southbourne Tandoori. When we complained about the poor quality food the son decided to pretend he was on the phone to the police as we didn't want to pay for the nan and curry which was predominantly uneaten. I told him that I regularly work with the police and he decided he would ignore me. The father wouldn't talk to us or sit down and talk about it. If you like bland curries and won't complain when you don't get food that matches the menu description this is the place for you. The Balti House in Boscombe serves better food...
