Even his response he still not admitting fault. What do I want or need to discuss with you? You said you don't set prices yet charge over £3 for a dash of orange juice.... Joke! Like you said you don't make prices so again what is there to discuss? You also stated your staff are friendly and caring yet, maybe caught them on a "off day" or I "misread" the situation. Contradictory..... Again The reply has since been deleted off my review.... But the pictured attached to this post is the response I recieved from The Commodore owner Ross on the back of my original review. I have many issues with his reply and statements he has claimed to be true..... That just simply aren't. Firstly, the response seems extremely rude and just unprofessional in every way possible. I couldn't imagine being the owner of any establishment and being this rude and quite frankly confrontational to any customer regardless of their feedback, even more so after seeing his other replies to other reviews. If anything Ross should be taking it as constructive criticism and not blaming not being funded in 10 years or the customer or just simply lying. Secondly, not only has he seen my review with my name clearly at the top of the review and then responded to me spelling my name incorrectly...... This goes to show how truly attentive the staff and owner are. He also states "his staff are very friendly and caring, maybe I caught someone at a odd time or misread a situation" Again this is a truly disappointing response as an owner as a) the customer should not be blamed for his staffs actions/interacttions with his customers and b) he states maybe someone was caught at an odd time, after stating how friendly and caring they are; which is just so contradicting it's actually quite funny! 🙈😂 Regardless.... how is it my fault or problem if I caught a staff member at a 'bad time' they are at work.... Being paid to serve people with care, kindness and if lucky a smile.... Believe it or not a smile goes a long way! And I can assure you that I did not mis read the situation, especially when I got along very well with the customers in there on the day and they were actually more polite than your staff 👍👍👍 Alongside all of this, Ross the owner has stated in his reply to my first review that the beers and ciders etc are cheaper than most greenkings and that HO sort pricing etc.... Yet me and my partner drink neither beer or ciders etc. Ross then also goes on to state that spirits will of course be more expensive than beer for example (which I totally understand) however I had a liqueur with coke zero which is not a spirit and my partner had a single gin, specifically monkey 47 gin with orange juice.... The oj wasnt even bottled or not from concentrate, it was literally a carton of oj that can be brought in any shop anywhere and to be honest we didn't even mind that it was cheap oj until we looked at the receipt and seen on it "a dash of oj" priced at over £3!!! I'm sorry but OVER £3 for a 'dash of oj' is just simply taking liberties beyond belief! Ross also states that he doesn't set the prices etc yet my partner can get the exact same drink from another greenking pub and it has never cost more than £7 for the SAME drink in a cleaner and friendlier greenking pub! And just to top the whole thing off he states he would be happy to discuss pricing, however, within the same sentence then states head office set the prices. So what is there to discuss? If this is the case in regards to head office setting prices, how are two greenking pubs so different in price for the exact same product!!! Maybe I need to contact head office directly in regards to your establishment as part of the green king chain, as this is the only green king I've been too that has treated me like this and also maybe explain the differences between the others, you never know they may even offer a refresher class to improve on your hospitality skills Lies, contradictions and out right rudeness in the owners response to my first review. Like I say maybe a refresher class may help 🤣👍🤞

What a fantastic place. The building and corridors are a little aged, need a new sign and a lick of paint here and there but nothing serious. What is a stand out is the amazing service and the room we had. The chap at reception was super welcoming and really friendly. Couldn't be more helpful. The room was clean, well equipped and the view...wow that view for £65/night is just incredible. We had room 6 which was a sea view on the corner. See the pictures of the view from led in bed. The only down side was the room was really hot and the road is noisy early morning but really not a big issue We will return and recommend trying it

Just spent the night here. Slept well, nice bed. Bathroom with a bath, which was a bonus. Lovely hot water. Breakfast was nice.. made to order. There are also cereals and breads on offer. Staff were nice. Quick check-in and checkout. And lastly.. free parking.. there are limited spaces at the hotel...but alot of free parking on the surrounding streets 👍

Hotel Good position, right on top of Overcliffe, with almost uninterrupted views of the sea. Right opposite Fishermans Walk Cliff Railway to beach. The beach was clean and extensive. Plenty of walking available (on top the cliff or down on the promenade. You can walk from Christchurch all the way to Bournemouth (and beyond) if you want to. Parking This is a problem with only about 7 parking spaces ( one of which is disabled). This, it seems, is because the remaining old parking spaces have been taken up to al- fresco dining. Almost impossible to park in Seaward Avenue as nearly all properties have been converted to off road parking. However plenty of parking in Southbourne Overcliff Drive when we were there (October). Guess this might be a big problem during high season Bedroom Generally good. Bed mattress or bed baseboard appeared to slope downwards across the bed, with tendency of rolling out of bed !!! Although two bedside tables only one bedside lamp. As we do a lot of late night reading - a big disappointment. Despite asking 6 times for an additional lamp - nothing materialised. Bathroom Well appointed with good stand-in shower. Bit of mould on tiles but that’s all Breakfast Typical Greene King style, with everything you would want readily available. Soya milk provide upon request. The only down side was that in the Continental Breakfast area the pastries were not covered up with the resultant flies able to have a feast !! Bar Area Good with all the beers and wine available. Friendly Staff Restaurant Good with nice views over the sea. Furniture very dated with hardly any chair/table the same style. Looked like furniture came from second hand outlet. Summary Nice, typical Greene King hotel, staff very friendly, just the public areas were a little bit in need of updating. Overall good value for money
