Went in today (Friday of May Half Term 2024); I’d seen on a local fb page that the pub is dog friendly, and as a dog Mama to 3 rescues I love finding local places I can take the dogs into. Also brought my 70 year old Dad. We sat in the bar area which is where the dogs are permitted to be. We purchased drinks and asked for menus to order some food. We didn’t want to keep pestering the bar man who appeared quite busy as we’d already asked if the dogs were welcome, if the table we’d selected was suitable for the dogs, and for menus but on the main menu it noted between 12-5 Monday-Friday there is a lunch and early evening menu which costs £14.50 for 2 courses. We ended up ordering Signature Burgers from the main menu with onion rings added on (nicest onion rings I’ve ever had!), burger was delicious too, fries were basic frozen fries, but coleslaw was also yummy! My drink a J20 in a pint glass with lemonade was £3.80 and my Dad’s bitter was 4.80. There was an empty water bowl in the bar area for the dogs; I personally always take my own anywhere due to the risk of the dogs catching an illness from shared water but I’m sure if you forgot your own they’d be happy to fill the bowl for your furry friend. Considering it was Half Term there weren’t many children around, a few playing outside on the equipment. It was a pleasant atmosphere in the bar. The table was clean. We didnt use the restroom facilities so can’t comment on those, but in terms of parking, seating, food & drink we were happy. There is a charging station behind the pub for EVs; it’s also close to a BP garage. Also noticed the outdoor seating including an area for non-smoking which is undercover. We will most definitely visit again, and recommend it to other dog owners who’d like to take their dogs out with them.

This is my second visit here the first was very good. Then somehow in a week it all went wrong. Arrived fri eve at the hotel two groups of people smoking drugs outside and in a car. Went for dinner I ordered the rotisserie chicken, it came with a thumbful of gravy and as it was very dry I asked for more. When I received the bill this was charged as an extra to which I complained. I also complained that we were told that we were getting a 20% discount on food as we were staying at the hotel.... visitors beware this only applies if you book directly not if you use someone like booking for com. To which the duty manager gave me a long drawn out story about that every other pub was Doing it wrong and they were Do it it right. This was after I had explained we received the discount in other venues owned by same chain and that we received it the week before when we stayed in her hotel. She was so argumentative I just said I'll direct my complaint to Head office. So off we went to bed which was so uncomfortable as it was two singles pushed together . During the night the people staying above were banging around and I thought at one point may even join us in our room as am sure ceiling was vibrating from the crashing around. And to top it off some drunk couple having a a crisis in the hallway for a couple of hours. Now it's breakfast time. Cooked breakfast and full continental. That's if you like uncooked toast and rotten fruit. And when the pancakes arrived it looked like someone had taken a bite out of one..... I have put on a picture of the uncooked raw croissant. Give this place a miss, I had such high hopes after such a great first visit.

Had a bad experience here 2 years ago so thought I'd give them another chance. But nothing had changed. After being seated and 20 minute wait our drink order was taken. Then another wait to get our drinks. Our food order was taken by "Karen" as for a minute thought we'd booked the wrong diner ? . We were told no turkey even though this was 2pm on a Sunday? Food was served in various bowls and plates and no consistency throughout we ordered a bowl of chips £3.50 these came out in a sugar bowl containing 10 chips ? . My daughter had chocolate brownie desert which was thrown on the table my Karen which shocked all of us !!!!!!! We ordered icecream sundaes which were served in mini beer glasses on our table and then larger latte glasses on another. Overall disappointed visit and maybe change the the name to Karen's Diner then at least you what expect...

The restaurant was relatively quiet at the time of our visit at 6.30pm. I ordered the Sea Bass but was subsequently informed that was not available so I chose the Royal Chicken Tikka Masala as an alternative. It was described on the menu as “Aromatically spiced creamy tomato sauce, basmati & wild rice, coriander, grilled flat bread, poppadum, mango chutney, and was priced at £15.29.

When the meal arrived, there was only a very small half piece of flat bread, and it had clearly been cut in half with a knife. There was no poppadum with my meal either! I kindly informed the waitress that the poppadum had been forgotten from my meal and she went to the kitchen to enquire. She informed us moments later that they had in fact run out of poppadum but no alternative or supplement was offered with my meal, and I felt that the kitchens attitude was a case of that was it.

I suspect that the kitchen was also running out of flat bread too, and I strongly suspect that is why there was only a small half piece of flat bread on my plate!

There is absolutely no excuse for not having the full and correct ingredients, and it is extremely poor planning and management! If a meal is advertised and described on a menu, then it should be ‘served as advertised’ and to serve anything less than what is advertised, especially knowing that parts of the meal are not available before a sale, is tantamount to mis-selling, and it is not as described, but still fully charged for!

These were simple items that could have been quickly purchased by the management or the kitchen team from any local supermarket prior to opening that evening, to ensure that all the same meals sold that evening were exactly as advertised on the menu, and expected by the customer. To just not serve them with the meal and then just expect customers to accept it, without any for of apology or alternative offered, is utterly appalling and not what you would expect of any restaurant!!

I really do question the legality of mis-selling such a meal at its published price, especially knowing that key parts of the meal were not available! I feel very saddened for all the other customers who purchase the same meal that evening only to suffer the same disappointment. It is extremely poor and falls well below the level of service that you would expect from the Fallow Field.

The meal was not worth the £15.29 published price and even though the restaurant is offering a 30% discount this week to attract additional custom, I still do not believe the meal that was served was worth this discounted price either!

We are all living in tougher economic conditions at the moment and it is becoming a more special occasion to eat out in a restaurant. Competition is tough and you expect a very high quality and standard of any food offered for sale, and an enjoyable experience. It is just not acceptable to expect any valued customer to just accept what is served to them, especially knowing that part of the meal is not available, and then not to offer any apology or alternative supplement. I do hope this is never repeated again, and that no other customer suffers similarly in future!

On a positive note, the young waitress who served us was extremely professional and polite with a lovely warming smile, and we really appreciated...

Came here this even we've been coming here for some time now normally great good great services but not today waitress slow didn't seen to notices when we called her are that my partner glass was empty so we tried rhe started of cheesey mushrooms thinking it be nice to be given a bowl full of grease I get cheese is grease and in my in some garlic oil maybe but really they was swimming in grease yakkk we then order our mains I had sausages and mash not the best watery gravy weird to have a piece of on it that wasn't cooked and these sweet sauce not sure what it was don't remember seeing it on the menu then my partner order fish and chips for it to come and the fish coverd in rock salt and the chips now he doesn't eat salt so had to ask for it to be taking back and change to with the waitress saying we'll it does say season chips is salt a seasoning? And we'll you should be asked first and I didn't see if say seasoned fish ? So while waiting for it to be cooked again it was a while maybe this was because staff seemed more interesting in chatting running around and messing about instead of giving services being in the industry my self customers first and if you have time to lean clean its work not a playground or a hoilday camp Once we got are meals very disappointed I didn't enjoy mine partner left half of his as he said fish didn't taste great definitely gone down since last time safe to say we won't ne coming again and will be trying somewhere new. My partner did say I should have ask for money back as we paid a lot for a not nice meal we really didn't enjoy. Maybe you should get the one lady can't remember her name she works on reception at the hotel as well to teach you staff now when she waits on she fabulous always has been hence I normal give 5 star reviews but not this sorry won't be returning menu now is boring same stuff all the time and food...
