Venue features a pretty modern and spacious layout with lots of tables and seating to cater for large or small groups, there's even a pretty nifty children's play area and activities to keep them entertained. There is also a children's play park just outside that is pretty safe and far enough away from the smoking shelter but still within view for parents who want to watch there kids. One of the main features of this pub is the food. You have your traditional pub food alongside a decent carvery that seems to be open most days as it's always been serving when I have visited. The food is very reasonably priced, we paid £7.99 for a regular plate to the carvery - the server asks you your choice of meat from turkey, beef or pork (I asked and you can choose smaller amounts of multiple should you prefer), wether you want a Yorkshire pudding and stuffing (Yorkshire pudding was huge, stuffing was a little tight though) and then you can help yourself to as much veg, roast potatoes, parsnips and other bits an pieces as you can fit on your plate. There is a gravy and sauce station with other condiments. I would give 5 stars however the service isn't always consistant and I've had my order wrong on more than 2 occasions. The carvery isn't as extensive as it used to be also (I actually changed this back to 5 as it's only a little niggle correcting orders. Despite the selection for the carvery dropping, it's still very good and worth every penny). As for the kitchen staff, I have met a couple of them and they are truely awesome guys who work hard to provide such a decent carvery and menu. Definitely worth a visit. It's quite a friendly welcoming atmosphere and is most suited towards families with children or friends looking for a decent meal. For a pub I havnt tried much alcohol here surprisingly so I can't comment on...
Read moreLast time we came it was a busy Sunday, ordered the carvery the queue was huge and slow took around 45 mins to be served whilst we were being served running out of meat joints and veggies, more veggies were brought out to the note 'these might still be abit crunchy' so not finished cooking rushing to keep up unprepared. This time I walked the carvery first but there was only 1 meat left and it was dry from being left under the heat lamps all day and the veggies had a clear crust on them so opted for the main menu items ordered nice and quickly at the till down hill from there tea was 50mins for our meals when you have a toddler they get restless and upset which people then stare and the whole experience becomes alot worse.. when the meals arrived not bad bar the hunters chicken which was well burnt we got the manager on shift and before she reached the table she said 'oh yeah I can see' if she can see before reaching the table how does the 'chef' send that out.. another 15mins pass the 2nd hunters arrives much better by that point wed finished our meals so my nan felt awkward eating in front of us.. so I ordered puddings to the table so we'd be eating together again .. bad plan as they took 20mins to come and one was a giant cake which just needed to be sliced, another child's ice-cream which they served in a tall glass with no wafers to a under 2 year old.. we finished our puddings and left quickly to try and make it home for love island we got there at 6pm and only just made it home for 9pm admittedly if the reserved tables had been used it would have been busy but they were all empty.. and as we left the building 3 lads on the table out the front by a kids play area sniffing coke off the table when questioned by my nan just laughed and carried on. Awful pub we won't...
Read moreWe came to have the Christmas lunch yesterday and we had a fantastic time! We were a little early but this wasn't an issue and we were greeted warmly and taken to our table. We got ourselves some drinks and then we were asked if we were ready for our starters. We asked for another few minutes and then when we were ready, they arrived quickly. I had the king prawns with smoked salmon and my partner had the pate. Both dishes were tasty and just the right size. We had a brief gap and then went up to the carvery. The wait was short and we were served by a lovely guy who was full of Christmas cheer and very funny! I had the turkey and my partner had the turkey and ham. Both meats were juicy and tender and the vegetables were cooked incredibly well, not a soggy sprout in sight! We then had a longer gap to let our food settle before my partners dessert came out. He had the cherry bomb which tasted lovely but unfortunately he was too stuffed to finish it all. I'd ordered the cheese and biscuits which I was going to take home but ended up eating before we left. There were three different types of cheese which were all delicious. We stayed and had some drinks after our meal finished. The atmosphere was lively yet chilled and we were impressed by how organised everything was and how lovely the staff were, they literally couldn't do enough for us. Special mention to Alden, he helped us with a last minute booking and was the cheery greeter at the beginning and to Corey, who was an absolute delight, incredibly warm and funny. We will be back for next Christmas and are looking forward to coming back throughout the year. Great job guys, thank you for making our Christmas meal a fantastic...
