Oh dear Fee. It started with so much promise yesterday when my wife and I had a lovely coffee with brownie. We liked it so much we came back this morning and had some croissant and the cinnamon pastry (delicious) with our coffees. The treacle tart was also delicious. For these you get 3 stars. It would have been 5 but for the following. Things started to go downhill when we ordered the Baklava which sadly is unlike any baklava I’ve ever had. I think if you call something by it’s name it should at least look and taste like it. A layer of filo pastry with nuts doesn’t make it a baklava. The apple “cake” was stodgy and didn’t taste nice. We also took home two curries, the chicken jalfrezi and chicken in tamarind and coconut sauce. For those wanting a proper authentic curry, this is not it. If you are happy with a washed up imitation catered for people who have never actually tasted a real curry before, well then look no further. The curry sauce was not a thick, rich delicious gravy but a diluted bland watery mess on my plate. The “spicy” chicken jalfrezi tasted more like a tomato Italian chicken dish than something from the Indian subcontinent. My mother in law thought it was a ragout! As for the tamarind and coconut curry, where was the tamarind, where was the creamy aromatic sauce? Argh, I can’t tell you how frustrated and disappointed I am. Please give your customers more credit than this. Imagine ordering a Chinese but being given a pot noodles...
Read moreFee Turner’s food, staff and service is/was exceptional! Not only was the food delicious, what made the experience so brilliant was getting to build a personal wedding menu with Fee. Exactly what we wanted, how we wanted it (pics don't do it justice!). From a logistics perspective we asked a lot of her team - we wanted the reception in quite a remote location, but wanted various points along the way where guests received cocktails, bubbles or canapés. Fee was always up for a challenge and making our day as bespoke as possible. Not only was the food delicious and booze cold, everyone was so well looked after, with glasses always full and food out, hot, immediately. The cake Fee made for us too, which we had as dessert, was just beautiful, simple and so so tasty! We lost count on how many people told us this was the best wedding food, service and cake they had ever had. Highly recommend using Fee and her team. For the 100th time, thank you so much...
Read moreI went to Fee's yesterday. The coffee I had was nice enough. I do object to being charged for oat milk, which seems to be a common practice nowadays. In many cases, oat milk costs around the same as dairy milk (some places charge more for soy which is cheaper than cows milk), and even dairy-free milks do cost more, it is not 30p or 50p more. Also, when one considers the cost that the diary industry is having on our planet and society, it seems more fitting to charge more for dairy milk, not oat milk! A cafe in Richmond, London did this and I thought it was awesome. I find that this charge tarred my the entire experience at Fees, because it's not just about the charge, but the consciousness whence it came - a disconnectedness from the whole, what's really going on. I really hope Fees, and other cafes, become more aware and stop charging people for alternative milks. It does anything but encourage and support more sustainable and...
