We were greeted rather poorly by a lady wearing a face shield and no mask ( I thought they were not allowed in hospitality but I may be wrong). She seemed really bothered by our presence and we had to ask what we needed to be doing instead of her politely greeting and instructing her customers. I ordered the chicken burger and when it arrived it was tough and extremely unpleasant. I sent it back (something I hate doing) and felt really uncomfortable. The other lady was a bit more friendly and dealt with it, but when she brought my food back, she literally dumped it at me. She came back 2 minutes later with the difference in cost which was good of her, and not what we were expecting but I just felt that there was a real lack of friendliness and polite behaviour. Please smile and look happy to see customers, who actually researched on trip advisor and google to see where was recommended for lunch in the area. I dragged (small children :)) my family there as I thought it would be great and was really disappointed. The bad chicken, I could live with and say it's one of these things but when people treat me poorly, it's something I can't forgive and would most definitely not return for. It's a shame because my chilli was lovely and the husband and kids all enjoyed their food too. I can't even suggest that it was a busy time, we were 1 of 2 tables in the café...
Read moreVisited after a climb up (& down) Helvellyn with a few mates. Glenridding is a lovely place but very quiet & we struggled in finding a place to eat. The pubs & restaurants were very busy to be fair, but I had the feeling we may have been less desirable due to us being a party made of males only. It was thanks to the chap in the shop across the road from Becks Inn who had noticed us meandering past that we found Fellbites. We turned up & despite it being near closing time the staff there kindly let us have a table. Staff & food were great. Absolute life savers as if they hadn't let us stay we would have not been able to eat. Steaks were spot on & not over priced. Big shout out to Mike the taxi guy & his sister in law who ferried us to & from the hostel we were staying in which was a mighty trek to/from...
Read moreGood food - poor service
ordered myself steak pie and mash with a cuppa, coming in at just short of £20 which is what i’d expect to pay in this area.
Food was very nice, customer service wasn’t so great.
i sat outside and the waiter asked if i wanted an umbrella for the table as it was starting to rain, i kindly accepted however he asked me if i would pop inside when i was leaving so he could retrieve the umbrella, maybe i should have taken the umbrella itself back inside?
Food arrived quickly however there was no salt and pepper on the table so i asked the waitress if i could have some, no reply at all, you’d expect a reply like ‘yet i’ll just get you some’ when she returned with the salt and pepper she told me the rest of the condiments were inside the restaurant which equals’ get the...
