Orderd 2 flat breads and chips to share. Waited 50mins for food. Nobody had the curtousy to tell us they had messed our order up. The waiting staff blamed the kitchen (how unprofessional). They brought us out a bowl of free chips 1 minute before our food arrived but then still wanted to charge us for the chips we orderd. No apology. Then it appeared nobody wanted to clear our table when we finished eating. We were ignored and purposely avoided by everyone. Eventually someone came to our table and we requested a manager, who was too busy just walking around with the owner of the restaurant. We waited another 10 minutes and then called him over ourselves as we still were being paid no attention, just being walked passed and ignored. The manager, Travis spoke to us like we were a complete inconvenience to him and had interrupted his talk with the hotel owner. We did remind Travis his customers should come first. After an argument he said they would take 20% off the bill. Travis brought the new bill over with the card machine which im glad i checked as he had added a glass of ÂŁ8 white wine, which we never had! Neither of us were even drinking white wine. Absolute joke of a place. Travis dissappeard after this and left another member of staff to correct the bill. Dropped in for lunch and was in the place two hours nearly, we felt mugged off by every member of staff. All they could say was "were sorry you feel like that". I have never felt so patronised and met a team of staff that are so false. Never again. Oh... and the fries are rubbish, and the lamb flat bread needs a sauce or something, very dry. Food is poor for the...

Reviews suggested this was the best place for dinner in Glenridding. Looked expensive but was happy to take the risk, hoping the food would live up to the price. It did not. We ordered steak and chips, fish and chips and two glasses of wine for a total of ÂŁ70. We live in London so are used to prices like this but I would expect some serious quality food. None of it tasted fresh, most likely all frozen. Sachets of condiments like a service station. Order at the bar at this price? Crazy. Sauces tasted like they came pre made from a catering supplier.

The worst was we found some cling film in the garlic butter. I brought it to the staff’s attention and without much apology they took the plate away to the kitchen for the chef to remove it. Then brought it back and said ‘sorry the kitchen is under pressure at the moment’ (it wasn’t very busy!) and ‘obviously the garlic butter isn’t made on site so it comes in a plastic wrapper’ (why isn’t it made on site at this price?!). We were asked if we wanted a new steak but declined and just carried on. It was only 5 minutes later the waiter came back and offered us a free dessert as an apology. We didn’t want any more food so he refunded our wine.

Not a great experience. We went home to our hotel ‘The Ullswater Inn’ and the food being served in the restaurant there looked probably just as good but for half the price and with a much better atmosphere.

Sorry,...

18.30we ask of we can book for later, they don't book "but if you come and find a seat you can order food" 19:10 we come back, there js a table where a waiter just cleaned and put new cutlery ready, we ask if it's ok to seat for dinner and we are told we can. 19:30 waiter busy cleaning another table nearby in the meanwhile but no one comes to bring us a menu, so i go and ask. Lady looks surprised we are there for food, asks the kitchen and come back to say that they are not serving food "currently" as they have a table of 35 and busy with them. so i say we have been waiting for 20 minutes after being welcomed in, could they please recomsider as we are only 2 and were told we could eat. She goes back to talk with manager and confirms that currently no food. I say we could wait if they plan to reopen orders, she sais she doesn't know and can't tell. I ask if this means that 20min after being told we could eat we are now told to leave. The only answer i get is "i am afraid i can only confirm what the kitchen tells me so i don't know if we will be serving food again later". 19,35 we leave hungry, and left a bit speechless by really...

A lovely little bar and function room at The Inn on The Lake. You can park here for free if you are using the venue. We stopped for a coffee break on our mini tour of Cumbria. It was ideally situated for us with mum's reduced mobility. The food being served looked fabulous, so absolutely worth trying on another visit. It's an exceptionally well presented venue with superb staff. The toilet facilities were spotless! The whole venue is accessible. There's a bar serving hot and cold food and drinks, alcoholic beverages are available too. This is a dog friendly venue. The bar is adjoined to a beautiful function room that was being prepared for a wedding reception. The wedding itself was being held on the grounds of the hotel with Ullswater as its backdrop.

Just had the most amazing chicken pot pie with mushrooms a lush gravy. We were 3 minutes past 2.30 pm, and the chef made an exception and cooked 2 of those mouth-watering dishes... The dishes were well seasoned, hot on arrival, and well presented with multi-coloured carrots and a thick pot of gravy. It's definitely a stop over for anyone in the area! Cost... ÂŁ20 each and it was worth every penny!!! The staff are friendly and customer service focused. The place is clean, tidy, and well decorated! A plus for me... the wooden carved figurine of Tintin, the famous French reporter comic character!!! Brilliant!!!

Overpriced terrible food, small plates basically ÂŁ10 each. Ordered pork balls, nachos and bhajis. Couldn't manage one pork ball smelled like fish so i assume fried in the same oil. Nachos...well there wasn't any it was literally all guacamole and freezing cold. Bhajis tasted good but wasn't cooked enough. Was dead inside, obviously for a reason. Dont recommend.
